Greg Gabriel @greggabe 12m Bills reportedly have made a deal with Kyle Orton. Great move for them, Orton will take over for Manuel before the season is 4 games old
I would've taken Terrelle Pryor personally, seems like the kind of player that could bring a spark in a pinch after coming off the bench, but I guess they wanted to go the old mentor route or something rather than going with athletic upside.
Its actually a good move for buffalo, they need someone who can actually throw the ball more than 5 yards.
Bills made the move because the coach didn't have faith in any of his backup QB's. Jeff Tuel and Jordan Palmer weren't getting the job done. The question is whether they will cut Tuel and try to PS him or not. If they don't cut Tuel then it means Marrone isn't all that happy with E.J. either. He'll carry 3 QB's because he doesn't know if E.J. can stay in games this season. If they cut Tuel then it just means the Bills needed a backup QB and Orton was the best available. E.J. has had a really poor preseason so far. He played in the final preseason game against backups and produced no points on 3 drives. Bills should have taken Geno.
I was surprised the Bills cut Thad Lewis last week. I thought he did a very decent job playing last season and he started a few games. Is he better than Simms. Assuming we keep 3 Qbs I'd have to say yes. Lewis was given a try out with the Eagles last week. I wonder why considering that they have 3 Qbs and even the 4th string guy looked good against us.
We'd have taken a QB later in the draft at some point and Mark Sanchez would likely have started the season at QB for the Jets. We'd likely have gone 5-11 or so, which is the floor for a Rex Ryan team, and many things would have been different this season. For all his crappy play last year the Jets won at least 3 games on Geno's play. The TB game, the Atlanta game and the Cleveland game. Sanchez certainly would have lost those games based on his established level of play and nobody else the Jets replaced him with was likely to rally them to end of the season wins.
That's a ridiculous assumption considering that for rest of the games played by Geno that season he was stinkier than hot garbage.
I'm rooting for Carr because he's a great guy but I didn't really like him that much as a prospect. Not a fan of the WAC stuff. What I saw preseason didn't look that good either. So I don't think he'll do well but this is one I wouldn't mind eating crow on. Hopefully we can both eat crow on Geno! lol.
The rest of the games don't matter. We know Geno sucked in most of them. He was a primary reason the Jets won the three games I listed. They don't get anywhere near 8-8 last year if Geno doesn't help them win those 3 games.
