I always get a kick out of BB’s post game pressers, especially when the Patsies lose. Naturally, after their blunder today I checked it out on YouTube. In the comments there are an overwhelming number of fans that are calling for his head. Don’t get me wrong, I have despised him as long as he’s been at NE, but there’s no question he’s an all-time-great coach. In the event that NE parts ways, would you swallow the years of pain at his hands for a shot at him coaching the NYJ? Not saying he’d agree to come here, or that Woody would allow it, but if it was a legitimate option? I think I would let bygones be bygones and bet on a Belichick scorned by a spoiled ownership and fanbase.
No - his success was down to having TB and we sure as shit don't have a TB quality passer on this team. Plus their personnel decisions and drafting have been at least as bad as the Jets, it was all just papered over by having Tom.
Belichick has been shown to be a good-to-average head coach without Tom Brady. He had marginal success as coach of the Browns, and was already on the hot seat in 2001 before Bledsoe went down and Brady came in. I don't care about past rivalries; I'd take Belichick, Brady, whoever, if they wanted to come to the Jets if I thought they would win. It's a sports rivalry and I'm not going to hold a personal grudge against a guy for playing a game for another team. But I don't think a 71 year old, burned out Belichick is going to put together a winning team; if anything, he'd make things worse, because he likes to sell off all his top players and bring in system players for Brady, even when Brady isn't on the team!
It’d be so fitting to go give him a 5 year/$85 million deal. We add every past their prime player so he’d fit in with the Ed Reed’s and Jason Taylor’s of the franchise.
I'm agnostic about bringing him in but I will say that after Rodgers went down in a heap I'm willing to be that within hours something would have been being proactively done about it (Wentz) if Belichick was running the Jets this season. He wouldn't have sat around watching the slow moving avalanche heading towards us a foot at a time every week until we finally just got buried 3 weeks ago.
If Belichick were to move on from the Pats and continue coaching, I think he would want to go to a place with a good QB. Chargers come to mind if they fire Staley. Going from Brady to Jones is like going from a Porsche to a tricycle.
This. He hates the Jets organization more than any other organization. You know who I would call up though? Jim Harbaurgh I think he would be absolutely perfect fit for this team.
Yayyy! Another Defensive minded coach. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Woody threw the bank at him to come. Maybe we can get Brady to come out of retirement with him. Absolutely not.
