Connor Hughes "I can confirm (as @DMRussini said) that Bill Belichick’s camp reached out to the #Jets to express interest/gauge reciprocal interest in their head coaching position. No formal interview." https://x.com/Connor_J_Hughes/status/1867983169682657403?s=19
Woody doesn't hire proven heach coaches that have won multiple superbowls. Just look at his 25 year track record, we are 100% getting Robert Saleh 2.0.
The report is from Russini, so take with a MAJOR grain of salt: i.e. 99% BS. But if true and Woody told Bill to go fuck himself, I actually would have some respect for him. Fuck Belicheat and his shitty record without Brady.
I actually think now that Belichick had no suitors. Not a single team wants him and the Jets were probably his last ditch effort. That's why he went to North Carolina. The writing was on the wall for him. I think Woody did the right thing and told this guy to hit the road. Belichick has proven he can't succeed without Brady meanwhile guys like Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin, Jim Harbaugh, etc have won a lot of games with different QBs.
It's becoming increasingly obvious the NFL had no interest in him as a HC. Reaching out to the Jets given the history and his feeliings ahout them is pure desperation
That sounds like a formal base being covered without anything behind it. Almost makes me think he got blackballed.
I'd like one person here to honestly admit they would re hire an x employee that left originally after a few days by resigning on a napkin. F Bill. Nobody in the NFL wanted him either.
Why not string him along and interview him? Maybe you interview the best coach of all time. Maybe you troll him back and fuck up his chances of getting any other job in the country, pro’s or college.
Bill takes every chance he gets to take a shot at the jets organization and its ownership, I just simply don’t believe this report. However, if it is indeed true, the jets are stupid for not handing him the keys. He’d have this franchise turned around in no time.
He probably leaked this to the media in the hopes of making the Jets look bad for not interviewing him. I doubt he ever actually wanted the job.
No he wouldn't. He proved in his time in New England that, without Tom Brady, he's not really up to the task. Those post-Brady Patriots teams were bad (although we still found a way to look foolish against them). He'd just bring more of the same here. But, then again, it was never a serious consideration anyway. He was never coming here. I very seriously doubt that he had any interest in coming here either.
I never really got this fan sentiment though. He went 7-9 with Cam Newton that everyone’s uncle could throw farther than. He dragged rookie Mac Jones to the playoffs in the second year post-Brady and then went 8-9 missing the playoffs on the last game of the year. They were a disaster the next year but the whole Belichick can’t coach without Brady is just dumb as fuck. They don’t beat the Rams either SB victories or the Eagles in 2004 without Bill’s defense. They don’t beat the shit out of the Colts for almost a full decade without his coaching skills.
