ironically, in his statement upon shula's death, the hoodie confirmed what i have thought and said about him for over 20 years. he hates the Jets as a direct result of his teen years in Maryland as a fan of the nearest team to Annapolis, where his dad was assitant coach at Navy. his Baltimore Colts went to SB3 as almost a 3 touchdown favorite and got destroyed by the Jets. the game even featured an omage to the 1950 browns, who came out of the AAFC along with the 49ers and one other team ( colts?). the first game was set with the browns at the eagles, the nfl champion. the press ridiculed the browns until they went into philly and smacked the eagles around 35-10 , and it wasn't that close. after the game, nfl apologists whined about how the browns didn't play real football, just threw the ball around all game. ( sound familiar) so, when the next game that year was played in cleveland, the browns ran all over the eagles, kicked field goals, ran back an interception for a td, and won 16-7!!!! the browns did not throw a single pass all game long. Paul Brown's main assistant coach was Weeb Ewbank. Players on the browns included Chuck Knoll and Don Shula. Just like SB3, where the Jets did not throw the entire 4th quarter, scored one td and 3 fgs. Defense had 4 picks, 3 in end zone. Weeb's main assistant was fellow named Buddy Ryan. anyways, i give shula credit for telling it like it is. the pats records as well as the hoodie's both come with asterisks, since it is fact that they cheated. i had no mystery as to the hoodie announcing he was quitting as the "hc of the nyj" despite taking a large bonus from Leon Hess to honor the contract. Even if the tuna stepped down before Hess passed away, i never expected Bellicheat to take over. His staement on monday just proved what i always thought.
