I don't want to beat the Michigan loss to death. Everyone's been talking about it, of course it was an embarassment to the Big Ten, and of course fans of rival teams can't help but be a little happy.

Still, 10 other Big Ten teams played on Saturday, and there were some interesting results. For the most part, each team won a game they were supposed to because most of the schools scheduled cupcakes. Wisconsin played a decent opponent in Washington State and Minnesota confirmed a lot of thoughts that they might be last in the Big Ten by losing to Bowling Green.

Illinois also lost, but were the only Big Ten team playinga BCS school widely considered to be above .500 this year. They only lost by 6 without their starting QB for almost three quarters. To be honest, this and the Wisconsin game were the only Big Ten games of the weekend that gave me any solace in my belief that the Big Ten is one of the top two conferences in football.

Any thoughts on the Big Ten performance of the weekend or the Big Ten's performance this season in general?

Big Ten exposed by Florida and USC last season...

    And now by App. State...

Screw the Big Ten...And to think I defended Michigan, that they should of played OSU in a re-match...

    What a bunch of frauds.

The Big 10 was overrated last year, the only 3 ood teams they had beat nobody in the non-conf and just beat up on the rest of the Big 10 which was very weak. Mich losing at home to App St shows the conf is not any better than it was a year ago when it was overrated.

sorry but App. State wasnt a exactly a pushover. those guys were two time champs in their conference and were undefeated for like two years or something. Just cause they are div I-AA doesnt mean that they still cant play football...which Mich found out the hard way...next year book FIU instead...

    That's a horrible excuse man.

I don't care if App. State won 15 Div I-AA titles in a row...

Michigan recruits better, has better players, better talent...They were ranked #5, and were AT HOME...

You can take that excuse somewhere else.

My thoughts are that Michigan has and will always be overrated. Penn St looks good and OSU is consistant. Wisconsin is rated to be very good and the time will tell from the other teams. The Big 10 isn't the 2nd best conference in the country, but I do think they are close. Because other than the SEC there is no conference that looks that strong to me. The ACC is being weighed down by their traditional powers who are still in the process of rebuilding. The Big 12 has a couple of strong teams but other than that are weak at the bottom. And other than the Pac 10 who also only have a few top teams there isn't much separation.

I read somewhere that Michigan spent more money adding on to their stadium than most schools have in the program. I've always hated them, so good for App State. Did not see that one coming.

And to think that Michigan payed App. St. $400,000.00 for this game.

I'm with you.. Big Ten is the most overrated conference in college football.... If the National Championship didn't show that, this whole season will....

I do have a soft spot for the Fighting Illini though...

Though Wisconsin DID win their bowl game last season against Arkansas...

Arkansas rushed for 230 yards. While Wisconsin ran for -5

Take that for what its worth.

Too bad the game isnt determined by how many rushing yards you have, then I might of actually saw something in that.

pfft..I'de rather watch Hawaii..too bad they didn't play Michigan in week one. Now that would have been funny. Now if only the Jets would find a way to draft Colt Brennan next year we could all finally feel good about the team.

Okay, Clemens sucks. Brennan is the second coming.

In the 2008 draft there will be several QBs who are better than Brennan.

Thanks, Don. Posts like this are why I keep coming back.

The Big East already passed it. See post 17 for yet another example.
