On MNF Ron Jaworski just said Sanchez's throws don't translate well to the NFL and he will struggle! Great news! This is from the same guy who said Clemens was the best QB in the 2006 draft and would be great in the NFL! Sanchez has a great chance to succeed now.
Yeah, he said he had it easy at USC. Great line, great WR, way better than the defenses he was facing, etc. Good stuff.
I think we should just make an Official Idiotic ESPN Quotes thread and throw all their bullshit in there. It'd be great for nostaligic purposes.
Jaws was right. He is undersized, inexperienced and a bigtime reach. We could have had either Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson for the price we paid for Sanchez. All we needed was an experienced QB and legitimate WR to make another run. Instead no WR in sight, and a guy who played sixteen games at SC and gets a whole 30 seconds of playing time on Fri.??? goodbye playoffs.
Don't take this personally, but Jaws is easily one of the best analysts out there and has more football knowledge in one of his shits than you ever will. And I agree with what he said about Clemens. The only quarterback I would take over him from the 2006 draft class is Jay Cutler.. and only because he has already established himself.
Haha I like Jaws too, but it was funny/ironic how down he was on Sanchez and how high he was on Clemens. He was sure Kellen would be great. (If you remember)
I like Jaws. He usually has a lot of insightful stuff to say. Given that the 2006 QB Draft was pretty shitty, I'd have to say Clemens is probably the 2nd BEST QB taken on that Draft with Cutler being the best. Or who do you think is better? Vince Young? Matt Leinart? Gimmie a break. I don't agree that Sanchez won't be good. I don't know what or where Jaws is getting this from, but he hasn't even had enough time to see what Sanchez can do. So, althought I don't agree with Jaws, he's still one of the better analysts I've seen/heard cover a game today.
Not a big fan of Jaws, especially when he's calling Eagle games. He doesn't even try to hide his bias, he's unprofessional in my eyes, add on his irritating voice and you have a broadcasting disaster.
He seemed to be saying that Sanchez had lots of time to throw and wide open receivers. Not that he was bad, but it was too easy for him to succeed at USC. Probably right, but it doesn't mean he won't succeed when tested at a quicker pace with less time.
Yeah, but you have to remember how high people were on Leinart and Young at the time. Cutler too. Jaws didn't say those guys would be bad, he basically said Clemens would be greater than all 3 who would also be great. I forget the exact quote, but it is funny to me. Then he goes the complete opposite on Sanchez tonight. Again, I like Jaws, its just funny to me.
What the hell? Is that some sort of anti-Latin thing because Sanchez is Mexican-American? What does he mean that he can't translate well??!!!!! In other news, Joe Theisman just called and said he still believes, just like said on ESPN on draft day in 1995, that Kyle Brady will be a perennial Pro Bowler. Jaws & Joe T. = ESPN Dumbasses.
Exactly. Mike Mayock is the man! And what he says, it counts. I'll take Mayock's word over Jaws any day of the week.
Haha the point is not if he is right or not. The point of the thread was he thought Clemens would be great and he is not even a starter, while Sanchez has looked good so far and Jaws said the opposite about him. Its funny stuff.
The bigger issue here is that NONE of these guys really know who is going to be a sure fire, guaranteed NFL success and who isn't going to be. No one does with any real high degree of certainty. If Jaws or Maycock really knew something, don't we all think that they'd be sitting in an NFL franchise's war room on draft day? They are entitled to their informed opinion, but players like Chrebet and dare I say it, Tom Brady, would have gone in the top two rounds and bums like Ryan Leaf would have never worn NFL uniforms.
