It's painful reliving this. So many missed opportunities. Good stuff on Bart. He has been taking a lot of heat here so good to get some thing straight on his play in this game.
I had a question on the standards BGA uses to grade OL play. At one point he says Mangold is the only one who graded well on run blocking. Then he said Moore rated best overall, but that was despite the fact, as noted, that the running game gained only 11 yards in ten attempts on Moore's side. So how does an RG grade out best with that kind of run blocking number? Okay, he didn't give up any pressures in pass blocking. that overcomes the poor running game?
"Quarterback Mark Sanchez once again put up solid numbers in a road playoff game and finished strongly, completing 13-of-18 passes for 170 yards and two TDs in the second half (a 138.6 QB rating). That included 6-for-6 on his final drive of the season. Late in the game, the drives perhaps took too long, but the Jets could not afford to fail to score and did do a good job of taking what the defense gave them. Who would have bet against him driving them downfield if the Jets managed to get the ball back in the last few minutes? Sanchez built on last year’s postseason display with much improved overall numbers in the regular season, but it was still clear there was plenty of room for improvement. If he can have this sort of performance on a more consistent basis next year, then the Jets offense should be among the best in the league." That's what I'm talking about! Year 3, Sanchez realizes every game is a big game and plays lights out. If these fuckers don't get a CBA in place I may have to go smash some faces.
Maybe I will, heh, but the point is it is not clear from the very facts and considerations he cites that Moore was the best OL in the game. For full disclosure I am a fan of Mangold's, but if someone else has a better game, I am fine with that. I just don't think it was apparent that Moore did.
