Sheppard can't play 'cause he's always injured... Coleman and Cole flat out suck at CB/DB... Lowery is over-rated as a true CB... Rhodes plays like a pussy... E. Smith isn't that good against the pass... Leonhard plays with heart but he isn't the MOST talented S in the game... All of these things have been said on TGG.com but at the end of the day we are the best team against the pass by almost 10 YPG from the 2nd (GB) and 25 YPG from the 3nd best team in the league (Broncos). Ok, we have Revis Christ and that certainly helps (best CB in the league), but could it maybe be that we are undermiming the perfomance of our whole DB as a group? I for example am a COleman hater but if something ain't broken why fix it!? Hat's off to whoever is running the DBs PS that said if we somehow get Rhodes to perform (or trade him and get a solid S to complement Smith, which we could in this draft) and if we get a guy like Haden (although I'd prefer to re-sign Sheppard in FA) I think we could be looking at an exceptional DB group for years to come. PS the stat: Total Defense (YPG) 1. New York Jets 264.7 2. Green Bay Packers 272.0 3. Denver Broncos 290.7 4. Pittsburgh Steelers 294.1 5. Cincinnati Bengals 295.5
Also, we now lead the league in fewest points allowed: 1. Jets 211 2. Bengals 217 3. Colts 217 4. Ravens 218 5. Broncos 230
Thats nice and all, but who really cares if this team does not make the playoffs. Ill take middle of the pack stats and a playoff birth then top total/passing defense and miss the playoffs at 8-8/9-7.
I know but we have already played teams like NE, HOU and NO and they didn't get much done through the air (except Smurfs.God.Welker).
really???? You wasted the time and space to type that???? That said, as Jet fans we are perhaps to critical on our team at times. None of us expected us to make the playoffs this year, and at times we've played pretty damn well, especially on D. Next year we should be scary good. :jets:
Impressive considering the number of return TDs we've allowed and # of turnovers the offense has committed.
I can't wait to see Rex start drafting some defensive players, I feel like this D will be top 3 for as long as Rex is around. The way we've consistently stayed on top with all of our injuries really points towards the coaching staff.
That is true but it will also be important to not loose to many coaches to other teams around the league... I can't wait for Rex to bring in an OLB HE wants
Elite defenses and rushing attacks excel in December / January. Unfortunately we dug our own grave early in the season, but this isn't going away anytime soon and it's going to be great for the future of this team. Just imagine what the D is going to look like with Jenkins back?
But somehow we can end up not in the playoffs.. When is the last time that has ever happened? I'll bet a pretty large sum of money that it has never happened before.
