Hey just to take a break from all of the threads about us losing, I was wondering who you guys think the best kicker the Jets ever had was. I'm not really informed about the history of the Jets so I don't know many of the guys.

BTW: I bet someone says Doug Brien.

Wow...interesting question. I'll always love John Hall for hitting the 53 yd bomb against the raiders and i honestly think if we had him instead of brien we go to the afc championship game.
That being said I still hate him for shanking the Lions game all on his own.

Last time a thread was created about our kicker his streak of consecutive FG's was broken. Bah.

I always liked Hall. Feeley is pretty damn good though.

It should be Pat Leahy by default but John Hall hit some big kicks for us. Of course he was quite inconsistent and I will never forgive him for missing the potential GW kick against the Lions in 2000 that would have put us into the playoffs. He did make up for it the next season though

I would say it would have to be John Hall.

F Jay Feely, what big kick has he ever hit? Mike Nugent only has 3 less in a row than Feely. I'll never escape Feely's 3 missed FG's against Seattle with the "other" New York team a few years back.

I never trust Feely with the game on the line.

well maybe there should be two categories? Like the clutchest kicker, the guy you'd want on your team down by 2 with 4 seconds on the clock, and the most steady kicker?

Pat Leahy. Gets it on length of service. He was only an above average kicker while he played for the Jets but nobody could take the job from him.

Considering that Leahy was a kicker for us for 17 years it pretty much has to be him

Pat Leahy easily. Hopefully Feely becomes the best ever.

How about Jim Turner? Though it's tougher to judge kickers from different eras.

Can't forget about Jim Turner who played a big role in the Jets SB season. he kicked something like 35 Fg's that year which is pretty amazing considering the regular season was 14 games then and he kicked in Shea where the winds were much worse then the Meadowlands.

In Feely's defense, he was rushed onto the field to kick the FG before halftime
