NOTE: Please, no differentiation between Mets and Yankees fans. This is not the thread for that. I have a guy in my fantasy baseball league who claims Los Angeles fans are the best baseball fans after New York fans. I wrote that New York, St. Louis, and Boston have the best fans. The second tier would include Chicago, Cincinnati, and Baltimore. Maybe Cleveland and Philadelphia, and perhaps Los Angeles. My question to y'all is where should Los Angeles be placed on this list? 4th? 10th? 22nd?
why does st louis always end up on these lists? they somehow have this reputation of being "smart" baseball fans because they're utterly devoid of passion. i don't get it. also california is covered in a constant fog of ennui relating to any sports.
Cubs fans are in the top 5 at least. Also Los Angeles fans should be in the bottom tier, they are horrible frontrunners. Show up in the 3rd, play with beachballs and then leave in the 7th. They are pathetic.
I was at an Aneheim Angels game a few years ago (Pre LAAofA). They were playing Seattle who had Ricky Henderson. Me and a Co-Worker (Another Bleed Blue Yankees fan) were sitting there stunned... The Place had about 25k people in it and it was dead Silence! We saw people reading Novels...and the only time there was applause was after a run. Of Course being the New Yorkers that we were, We Heckled Ricky a little. He was kool about it and laughed (IOW We weren't cursing and acting a fool) Why go to a Game if you're gonna sit there uninterested? No way any LA city get's any Kudos from me....
I agree, if you go to the frickin game, cheer the team on and make noise. If you want to play with beachballs go to the beach, if you want to read a book then go to the library. I love watching European soccer games where every person is as loud as they can be and the noise is deafining for a full 90+ minutes.
I don't know how many people go to Wrigley Field to root for the Cubs vs. people who go there because it's Wrigley Field.
Dude I was at a Yankees vs. Cubs last year in the Bronx, it was about 70-30 Yankees to Cubs fans, they are loyal fans. They were loud also.
Cincinnati's better than you would think. They have had a major league team since 1876. Recently the team has sucked and attendance has probably dropped, but they are still probably better fans than Philadelphia. Kansas City had good fans. After the strike they just couldn't take it anymore I guess with the payroll disparity problems.
