Smokescreen? Bengals to limit Palmer, hope he can play vs. Jets http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8654830?MSNHPHMA CINCINNATI (AP) - Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer will limit his throwing during practice this week to rest his sore elbow, hoping to be ready for the New York Jets on Sunday. Palmer strained his right elbow in a loss to the Giants on Sept. 21, when his arm was hit while he threw a pass. He sat out a 20-12 loss to Cleveland the following week, when backup Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three interceptions and fumbled. He didn't participate in passing drills the first two days of practice last week, giving the elbow time to heal. He threw on Friday and played in a 33-21 loss at Dallas that left the Bengals at the bottom of the NFL with an 0-5 record. Palmer said his elbow came through that game without problem. "Probably go with the same approach as last week and hopefully be ready to play on Sunday," Palmer said Wednesday. "Throw as little as possible and let it rest as much as possible, and make a decision later in the week and see what the doctors say." Palmer went 23-of-39 for 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns with one deflected interception against the Cowboys. Several of his passes were uncharacteristically off the mark. Palmer said the elbow injury didn't affect his throwing, but made him more cautious about what he tried to do. "There were a couple times where I didn't have the confidence I normally have, just because my arm's not the same as previous to the injury," he said. "As far as throwing balls, I felt like I missed a couple of throws I shouldn't have missed. But the only thing I noticed was just a little less confidence in throwing some. I saw holes (in the coverage) in certain spots that I kind of held back on and moved on to the next guy."
I suspect Palmer will be listed as questionable but will be pretty well ready to play against the Jets. I would like us to approach this game as if we were playing a solid team in good form. This game is about us, lets put up a good win and serve notice we ready for the battle ahead.
This is just like how Brady was always on the injury report and listed as probable or questionable but ALWAYS played. This is just a little smoke screen, he will play 100%.
Paging David Harris..... Paging David Harris.... You're wanted behind the line of scrimmage. The tall guy with the ball said bad things about your mother.
Oh..Mr.Palmer...I believe you know Mr.Thomas..Please meet Mr Jenkins and Mr.Pace. Have a nice shower.
This is a big deal here because Palmer didn't throw at at in the week leading up to Dallas and he looked rusty as shit. Of course the Jets prepare for Palmer, but even if he plays, keep in mind what happened in Dallas.
Dallas almost lost the game, and Palmer threw for 2 TDs and could have had more. Can't sleep on a rusty Palmer, he's going to be better this week.
That wasn't the only time the Jets lost to a one win team....... 1968 lost to Buffalo who finished 1-12-1 1972 lost to Houston who finished 1-13 1980 lost to Saints who finished 1-15 1991 lost to the Colts who finished 1-15.. All of these losses were by a point or two I don't see that happening this year though.....
'68- Jets 35 at Buffalo 37 '72- Jets 20 at Houston 26 '80- New Orleans 21 at Jets 20 '91- Indianapolis 28 at Jets 27
Palmers not 100% but he will be effective... But if we pressure him then well see a much different QB and with Revis shutting down either Houshmanzadah or Johnson i have faith we can stop them. Plus side the Bengals D is terrible on all fazes. Favre and Leon/TJ Should light em up...
