and this week Brad Smith will throw the ball one or two times out of it and they will be burned again...thats a lock.
I still don't believe they'll stop the run....I don't care how many adjustments Zimmer makes to the defense. They have a great tandem in the secondary with Joseph/Hall...so passing on them will be dangerous....but the run game should should be unfazed.
the bengals should have their starting DT (peko ?) back, he wasn't playing in round 1. that should help them limit the runs striaght up the gut. but i'd like to see brad smith throw a pass to counteract that improvement in the middle.
They have undersized LB's who can get to the edge but up the gut our OL and FB can beat them back 3-5 yds every play. Plus we have not 1 but 2 rb's that can pound and a wildcat qb who is a threat on any down.
Good..I hope they spend their entire week working on how to stop Brad Smith. Maybe we will win by 60 this week if they do.
What is such a bad idea about BS passing the ball? He had Cotchery so open on one play last week he could have launched the ball like a hand grenade. I think it's a good idea if they can get someone that open again.
They tried letting Brad Smith pass once and it was UGLY but - I agree - if a guy is wide open, why not give it a try?
The funny thing is that we only run 1 play out of the "wildcat" formation. The rest were just pure option formations which are not supposed to work in the NFL, some even with Brad under center.
The same thing that's wrong with running double reverses on 1st & 10 - the downside far outweighs the upside. We have an offense built to do very few things well, and that's run, run, run, then run again, then slip in a safe pass. Hopefully we get some points, then lean on our defense. BS passing the ball is the same type of s*** play calling that has everyone screaming to fire Shotty. Last week was the game plan, and it should be from here on out...IMO.
We don't even have to get a big play out of it. If we do it once early it will completely put the defense on it's heels whenever BS runs the option. Kind of like the fins did to us with the early Ronnie Brown pass in the game at MIA this year.
I completely disagree. Cinci will sell out to stop the run out of the BS option this week. An early pass to a wide open receiver will completely put them on there heels when trying to defend that option. If they can get someone as wide open as they did last week the worst result would be an incomplete pass.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see several bombs early on. Just hopefully Edwards learns how to catch them or they go to someone else.
