I know it's preseason. I know he played against a back up and all that other Jazz. But Bender looks good in pass pro. I heard it being a question because of the offense he came from. I liked the way he played. He only loss one battle.
Yea I noticed him too, he seemed pretty solid. And he was really pumped after each touchdown, he was the only guy out there jumpin around and pumping his fists, it was quite noticable with his size
One of the big pops clemens got was a result of bender being totally blown off the ball and beat around the corner. It was the underthown ball and the great catch by wright i think. He was ok, had some good blocks on runs.
This guy can run block! I've mentioned it in another thread, but his block on Ware's long run was unbelievable...knocked the guy back 10 yards off the LOS!!! He needs work, esp. on pass protection, but for his first pro game he did fine. I think he is VERY promising...especially considering his strength is the overall line's weakness. He could add something...
My feeling is at some point this year he will be starting on the Oline. Whether it's guard or tackle, he has the ability to be a solid nfl lineman.
That was a crushing block, and then he ran downfield 20 yards to block for Ware, LOL. He's still raw, and didnt have to pass block much in college. He's a keeper, though.
I agree. pft said that Haynes was owning him in camp. After watching the game, I just don't see how that could have been the case.
The funny thing is he was making jammal anderson the 1st rounder 8th overall look like he should have been drafted in the 7th look like he did.Hopefully he could be our answer to RT in the future.
If you go to TC, it's easy to tell which players they think highly of as projects... they are always on Bender's case. That means they think he can be a good one. They are constantly coaching him up.
