Giants coach Tom Coughlin is too classy to say how he really felt to the media after New York’s tenth win of the season. Luckily, some NFL Films cameras caught his true emotions after the Giants’ 17-14 victory over the Redskins. “From the bottom of my heart and everybody’s, we have a 10-and-6 season, a 10-win season in the NFL, okay?” Coughlin told his players. “They can kiss my ass, okay? They can line up and kiss my ass. It’s not an easy thing to do.” (10 wins isn’t easy or . . . moving on.) The entire video can be seen here. My favorite part was when a player asked Coughlin if they could quote him. “You can quote me on a lot more than that. The priest is here or I’d say a few more things,” Coughlin said. I re-watched the Miracle at the Meadowlands II this week and still couldn’t believe the final result. There were so many unbelievable plays, like Mario Manningham’s unforced third quarter fumble, that led to the final result. The Giants didn’t stop blitzing until the end, and we think only one player could have made that comeback. Coughlin knows that winning “only” ten games doesn’t necessarily mean you are a bad team. He won a Super Bowl after a 10-win season. If Rex said this, he wouldn't hear the end of it. People would be calling him an loud mouth ass.
Coach Tom Coughlin is 100% right. Ten wins is a very good season in this day of NFL parity. He doesn't deserved to be fired, IMO.
I have no problem with anything Coughlin said, but I agree about the double-standard that exists in the media regarding he and Rex.
I'm still wondering how Coughlin's face didn't fall off his skull from frostbite....in the NFC championship game (against Green Bay) back in 2007.
i think coughlins right in a way. but if ryan was to be heard saying this he would be crucified by everyone in the media for weeks.
Good for Tom Coughlin. Said he could be quoted on that. If he was more candid on occasion, he may be liked more.
