Good sign for jets fans who had their doubts if he would be in shape come OTA's. He doesn't look like he is the 400 lbs. overweight LT that has been rumored since end of last season. Good sign that he's getting a early jump on his conditioning and not waiting for the last minute....looking good. Mekhi Becton is back in the gym putting in work. Looking to prove a lot of people wrong this year. #Jets pic.twitter.com/jJCxxVerpe— Optimistic Jets (@OptimisticJets) March 1, 2022
Good news. Let’s hope it continues. However this should not prevent the Jets from drafting another OL this year - particularly OL from the Senior Bowl who the scouts spent a lot of time with and came away convinced as to their actual talent. The Jets OL is not a finished product and as good as Fant has been he is almost 30 and there is no real depth at either OT spot.
I hope he's been reading the posts here and wants to send a big "FUCK YOU!" to all of us who are doubting him. That said, I'll believe it when I see him show up in shape, 100% ready to go at OTAs.
Well said. Sometimes hate is a good motivation. A lot of Jet fans gave him hard time on twitter. Sometimes we forget players are also human. I still don’t have high expectations but glad to see him putting in the necessary effort.
Little off topic, but I was talking to one of my friends that is a Nets fan about Ben Simmons. I don't know anything about the NBA, but I know Simmons is hated with a capital HATE in Philly. They play @Philly on March 10. A reporter on 98.7 said he expects Simmons to be fully conditioned for March 11. How in the world, could you as a competitor not say "I want to go out there and hold up the good ole' double bird" to all the haters. I really don't get it. That being said, love this from Becton to be honest. He had a promising rookie season and missed all of 2021 due to a freak knee injury. His recovery clearly didn't go as planned, but that's in the past. Hope he comes back strong in 2022.
He kinda already did send fans a big FU in 2021. If anything, taking 2022 seriously, and working on being an elite pro, would be recoiling that FU. The potential is there. The rest is up to him.
That is great to see. People have been counting him out and trashing him. If he can come back smashing people as he did in his rookie year that will be one less position to worry about.
This isn't the most encouraging thing I've ever seen. It is, however, better than seeing him at 450 lb lying in bed with a pizza sucking his thumb. So, there's that.
Simmons needs psychiatric help not playing basketball right now. He had a full blown meltdown in the playoffs. It was hard to watch.
I'm having deja vu. Becton did this exact same thing last offseason and people ate it up, saying how lean and in shape he looked, only for him to show up to training camp overweight and miss the whole season due to his weight. Time is a flat circle.
He has been. He gets it all day on Twitter from the Jets fans about being fat + overweight. Just go take a look at some of the responses he makes to fans attacking him.
