http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3816644 Boston College fired a good person and a good coach. He wont be unemployed too long. I hope the Jets do something for this guy. Maybe ask the new head coach whoever that will be to employ him.
I've heard both sides. Apparently BC went out on a limb hiring this guy, and he was unimpressive in his second year. I think he was also friends with the AD. The final nail in his coffin was the fact that he didn't personally notify the university before accepting the interview only to have them find out roundabout. Sucks that it happened, but understandable under the circumstances. link:heard on WDAE am radio 6 JAN 09
Don't cry for Jags....he'll have an OC job in the NFL soon. Reports have it he hated the adminstration at B.C.
anything IN boston or coming OUT of boston sucks, including belichicken, mangini, and 'jags'. except for CM and hot buttered lobster tail, of course.
BC was dumb to do this. In addition, I feel like this is the best possible situation for the Jets. I don't think Jags should be the HC, but after just losing his job, you know he'll take the OC job if offered (unless he opts for Seattle's). Bring in a good solid HC and Jags will do a good job as the OC. It makes sense to me at least.
The Jets shouldnt feel guilty that he got fired. He didnt have to take the interview and BC didnt have to fire him. The Jets need to find the people they feel are the best they can get to coach this team. If they think Jags can be a good addition and is the right addition to this coaching staff then ok hire him. But dont hire him because you feel sad for him.
We have three talented young QBs who need to be coached up. QB coach is not the right place to save money on, they need to get a good one and turn at least one of these young QBs into a quality starter. Jags would be an almost infinite step up from Daboll.
i couldnt agree more. jagz as QB coach. Ryan as HC. Gilbride or a veteran OC. Ron Rivera or any DC that has balls.... not BOB SUTTON. and you keep Mike Westhoff because he's a special teams genius.
All the stories I've seen have suggested that Jagodzinski was looking to get back to the NFL sooner rather than later, even as an offensive coordinator. BC didn't handle this all that well but neither did Jagodzinski. He was obviously trying to get interviewed by NFL teams without letting BC know that he wanted to leave. Filippo should have just called him in quietly and suggested that if he wanted to get back to the NFL that badly he should resign and pursue that goal. I have no idea if BC owes him money at this point but if they do that's a bad precedent. If a coach has no intention of fulfilling his contract his employer should be able to get out of it without paying him.
He will be a cordinator in the nfl one the jets turn him down, he will definetely find a job in the nfl so he shouldnt be worried.
We know he is an EXTREME longshot for HC so let's say the Jets are looking at him as a candidate for OC. Do you think they would do it because of his success with Matt Ryan and the Jets want/need to increase the potential of one of their young QBs and/or throwing a bone to Favre to come back to "one of his own"?
Kevin Gilbride is motherfucking awful. My brother is a Jints fan and fucking hates him. If you watch those games closely, he calls some really dumb fuckin' plays. He has the best run game in the NFL and goes away from it way too much. When Spags leaves, he will be exposed.
if we're going to live in fantasy land where other teams coordinators leave to fill the same position with us, why not go all the way and say Josh McDaniels for OC and Dick LeBeau for DC.
