Just saw a pretty good one. "Sugar," about some Domican kid in the minors. I'd recommend it if you like baseball, maybe not so much if you don't like immigrants.

    Name your favorites.

I like The Natural, Major League, The Scout, and Eight Men Out the best.

Major leagues: Bang the Drum Slowly. Minor leagues: Bull Durham. Little League: The Bad News Bears. My wife, who is not a baseball fan, loves Field of Dreams, but it's a bit too schmaltzy for me.

It's interesting to me that after a golden age of baseball movies from the mid 1970s to the early 1990s, there have been very few good ones since then. IMO The Rookie is one of the best baseball movies of the last 15 years, and it's only okay-to-good.

How could enjoying watching women get sweaty and dirty while wearing short skirts be anything but brutally heterosexual?

    Well, maybe except for one.

The Rookie was pretty good, and I actually thought that Mr. 3000 wasn't too bad.

Bull Durham, Mr. Baseball, and The Rookie. For Love of the Game had so much potential to be a great movie, but instead it was turned into a glorified chick flick.

Mr. 3000 was kinda funny. I agree though that the heyday of great baseball movies has long past.

I'm waiting for the next baseball movie to be about Steroids and how it's tarnished the sport.

a solid steroid-flavored baseball movie would be good. If its done well of course. Angelina Jolie could play Arod
