Three things I like from that article 1) Says he's good against the pass, which we need from our LB's 2) Says he would be a good mentor to a young ILB, aka David Harris 3) He's fiery, which means he probably wouldn't have a problem getting in Gholston's face if he's being a puss
Did you guys just hear Casserly on NFL network? They were discussing free agents and Casserly said: "When I polled teams in the fall, 'Who is the better linebacker, Ray Lewis or Bart Scott?' it was unanimous for Scott, plus he's younger."
I agree with that. Lewis has definitely slowed down in recent years. Lewis is no longer great. He's good. The average fan bumps him up because of his fiery personality and comments made by announcers, particularly studio guys. Jerry Jones is the type of guy who gets a hard on from stuff like that.
This is a good point, "When I polled teams in the fall, 'Who is the better linebacker, Ray Lewis or Bart Scott?' it was unanimous for Scott, plus he's younger." BUT I seem to be on the fence with the two of them. Granted Scott is younger and has great stats from what I have been reading but does he have enough fire in him to stroke the fire this Jets team needs. With that said I know Ray can get a team fired up to play hard and for 4 quarters I wonder if Scott can do that. Do we need a better player now or a leader this team has not had in long time.
I'll take either one. I would prefer Scott, but I'm not going to lose any sleep if we get Ray Lewis instead. Imagine this Defense for the 2009 Jets David Harris Derrelle Revis Kerry Rhodes Ray Lewis/Bart Scott Kris Jenkins Calvin Pace Leonhard (everybody is saying he's a lock to sign with the Jets) Shaun Ellis
You know whats great is those fucknuts at PFW actually got Scott's name correct. They didn't spit out an article about Fart Scott or Tart Scott. Seriously this is a step in the right direction for them. Great Article..... Cakes very interesting.
Yeah well Bryan Thomas, Kenyon Coleman, and Lowery are average players at best. I imagine we will see upgrades at at least 1 or 2 of those positions before the season starts
I agree with you on this. The idea that the Jets need Lewis' antics and leadership to play well is very, very overrated. Pathetic and low class avatar, by the way.
Yes I like when his "weakness" is him being a steady player. And I didn't know he was an undrafted FA.
Ray Lewis' strength is stopping the run and the Jets are already good at that. What the Jets need is pass rushing and a LB who can cover. Its always possible that changing the scheme will improve the pass rush without changing the players, its happened before. But will a new coach really be able to turn slow LBs who can't cover into something else? If the Jets have to choose between Scott and Lewis the right choice is Scott for every single reason.
