https://www.google.com/amp/s/jetsxf...t-scott-antonio-cromartie-darrelle-revis/amp/ I remember taking a lot of heat for calling out Cromartie for his lazy bullshit back in the day. Nice to see someone from that group finally calling him out on it.
Cromartie struggled with taking orders/instruction from other men. He was raised in poverty (i believe with just his mom and sisters) and his mother brought many abusive men into his life. For the rest of his life that had negative effect. When a coach yelled at him, often in his best interest, he took it the wrong way and shut down. I agree with Bart Scott, he coulda been one of the best ever with his athletic ability. But these people are human and he was a damaged human, which hurt him on the field
Somewhere, thres a video of Bowles telling Cro where a play was gonna go and Cro just missed it completely
Yeah, yeah, who remembers Revis totally dogging it in a playoff game for the chiefs, not even pretending to care about going for the tackle? Resulting in a backbreaking touchdown. Even a career lightweight like Tony Dungy called him out on it.
I totally agree! Cromartie was much more athletic and physically talented than Revis, but wasn't nearly as good because he was lazy. He just got by on natural talent/ability, and seemingly didn't work on technique or fundamentals at all. I also wonder how much film he watched of opponents.
Perfect example of a 20 million dollar body and a ten cent head. It's infuriating to me to see guys with that talent at that level and they can't get their act together, but it's human nature to cut corners I guess. The only ones I like are the ones who want to be the best. We don't get a lot of those.
I've used Revis' film study as an example of how to prepare in life for my son---Revis is an amazing role model on the effects of proper preparation.
cro was very gifted, just never had the mental aspect or the drive to be better then average. He could have been an all time great returner too but obviously was more important for him to play CB. he probably cost himself upwards of 20+ million had he applied himself and reached his true potential
the NFL is full of the top .001% of the top .001% of athletes. when you reach that level it's more then just athletics
