Its official....Marc Ecko is about to give Barry Bonds a nightmare...I love it, but im not to sure what to think in terms of what it does for baseball....discuss http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3036756 EDIT: already posted....not sure why its in the BS forum
Not a fan of this decision at all, regardless of your opinion of the man, this ball is a relic of historical significance to a area of americas cultural heritage. It should of been given to the HOF untarnished and then left to them to decide what they do with it. In my opinion, its a real shame that this has happened.
Gotta agree with you there. I think the * is very appropriate, truth be told. That ball won't simply be a reminder of one player cheating his way into the record books, but will actually now serve as a reminder to everyone of a culture of cheating that has taken over all sports in the current era. While I despise Bonds for his cheating, he is far from the only guilty party. All the cheaters of the modern era deserve the blame for the state of pro sports. As much as I'd love to abuse Bonds, simply for his singular achievement, I think it's more important that all cheaters are remembered for their actions: Bonds, Palmiero, McGwire, Sosa, Giambi (and likely Clemens). There are so many, and this is a small fraction of the total list, but these are the biggest names on the list.
I love it... cheating is something that's never been done before, a brand new phenomena in baseball!! What a joke!
