At first I said we should load up on Offense and Go Either OG or OT in the First Round but Im switching Stances right now. Mingo is an Animal and he is Tearing this LSU vs Clemson Bowl game up.. He is all over the place giving all sorts of pressure on the QB. He is even out there tackling WR's and Running backs on Screens. This guy is a game changer that we have been lacking. He is just too quick and has a wicked first step plus an arsenal of moves from speed rush to spin moves to stunting , he is doing it all. If we are lucky we will have a chance to draft him because his stock just Rose a little bit more now. He is top 5 material easily. The first snap of the game he put the RB out of the game . Im excited about this guy!!!
Yea he's got special talent on the edge. He would also fill a huge need with the OLBs currently being Pace and Thomas.
He's got what you cant coach and thats instincts... He will only get better as he developes in the pros.
He's only 240 and Rex likes guys at 250-260 Damontre Moore is the one OLB/DE I think Rex would fall in love with Bjoern Werner should test well and he also has ideal Rex size for his OLB
Assuming of course Rex really does stay for 2013 season, not saying he shouldn't, but I'd be surprised if the Jets bring in a good GM candidate and the new candidate doesn't have an option on keeping Rex or not.
Mingo has excellent speed off the edge he just isn't very big and gets pushed out of the play by bigger linemen. He also isn't much of a run stopper. Still with his blazing speed off the edge if he can put on about 5-7 lbs of muscle, then maybe so, we need a very good edge rusher to complete our d.
Anyone who wants Mingo hasn't watched him play in 2012....one Bowl Game isn't a season Mingo was practically invisible, and if you aren't making plays in College your last year, you aren't going to be a factor in the NFL. Mingo turns it on and off, not a recipe for the pros when you're making millions. There are some better options at OLB, other than Mingo. Minter is there best player on their defense, not Montgomery & Mingo.
Where was mingo when they needed him most? Taj Boyd was a beast yesterday against that defense. I know he is a junior but I like what I saw from Boyd, what do you guys think of him as a QB for the jets if he declares and falls to the Jets in later rounds? I have watched Clemson the past couple of years and he has been coming along well, JMO.
Very True... I said this guy Minter is something too.. I dont know how many tackles he had but it was probably 20+ he was a one man Recking Crew in the middle. He would be a great replacement for Bart. Plus Mingo might not even come out this year so if he came out next year and had a beastly season then we wont be able to get him because he would be a top 5 pick.
For what ever Reason they had Mingo on the Sideline for the last part of the game and if you watched the game they also took him out on 3rd downs which I dont know why.
I've been to every Clemson home game the last three years and quite a few roads ones too. Boyd has excellent skills, but he gets rattled too easily and can be a turn over machine ala Sanchez when he is rattled. Would love to have Boyd as a backup, but don't want him as my starter.
Boyd Stepped up yesterday when they needed him.. He showed heart and guts after taking a beating like he did and he stood tall in the pocket to make throws know he was gonna get blasted. Only thing I noticed was I think Boyd may need glasses because when he was looking towards the sidelines for plays he would squint alot.
Mingo played last night like he played all of 2011... The kids gonna be good wherever he goes, but he might need time.
LSU defense played a shit ton of snaps last night. The offense had like 8 3 and outs I believe. That could be close to 80+ snaps. Surely the defense was gassed
