Maybe I'm the only one, but I think it's terrible. I usually love the Rock and enjoyed Entourage but it has absolutely no depth and is way too bouncy for me.
is it weird that I agree with you that it doesn't have a lot of depth and its bouncy but I still like it a lot... possibly for that reason? too much "depth" on TV today IMO. Sometimes I just wanna kick back, drink a beer and enjoy what I'm watching without causing them to overthink things. Its a story about athletes and their social lives.. hell I want more hookers and blow and less emotional/character depth.
I don't like Rock and I never watched any of his shows but I like Ballers. And I agree on Ricky Jerret being similar to Santonio Holmes.
You are not alone. It is a terrible show. When people say it is Entourage but Sports, they are correct. However, I got sick of Entourage in 2008. Maybe earlier. Plus something about The Rock being so dirty is off putting for me. Also it is much less likeable than Entourage was. Glad some guys in this thread enjoy it though.
I never got sick of Entourage though because the characters were so dynamic, obviously Ari. But they meshed well together outside of Drama being so unrealistically stupid. It's almost tough to see where all of the players and characters connect in Ballers. It wouldn't have made sense to follow one specific team/entourage of players because the Rock and the other dude are agents all over the league but it probably would've made the show flow better and the characters work better together.
