How old are those girls? Japanese girls pretty much look the same from 12 to 40. Are they kids? I can dig it. It's like heavy metal except without the incomprehensible "singer". I recognize more words in this song than the average heavy metal song in America, so that's a win. I've always really liked the guitars in heavy metal but couldn't stand the screaming. It kind of changes throughout the song, though. A mix of pop and cheese in there as well.
I don't mind the concept of cute female singers alongside metal music...but when I say "cute" I don't mean barely out of diapers, I mean attractive legal females.
On Wiki it says one is 16 and the other two are 15. As far as the rest of your post, it actually makes my day (so far) that you don't get metal.
Okay good, they are legal in most of the world. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some metal, but not the really hardcore death metal type stuff. When it comes to music, I'm a lyrics first kind of guy. Metallica is a great example although some claim they aren't metal. Great lyrics, great singer, great guitarists.
80s Metallica and a couple of albums in the 90s were metal, then they began the hysterical transformation into a bar rock band with a singer that twangs his voice like Hank Williams.
When I was in the Philippines my buddy introduced me, some funny shit but he told me they were like 13. It's kind of a weird cross between death metal and J pop. Def some crazy shit.
This is true, they did have their alternative rock phase, but they did eventually return to their roots and their softer stuff was still really good.
Don't always judge a death metal book by its "cover." Especially when the singer's aping Canned Heat. Aw, why you 'Moon River' romantic, you! ;-) You sound like a guy who'd like "Elvis metal" (Volbeat). Try this cheesy remake of a Dusty Springfield classic on for size: on-topic: Bubblegum propped up on a metal intro platform but by the time the bridge comes around (the part with the 'gears' graphics in the background) and especially the refrain that follows the bridge ("dink!..dink!...Doki, Doki Morning") it's pretty much slick, manufactured pop. Little bit of the Brittney 'icky' school girl look but overall, they look like a female version of a Johnny & Associates creation (Johnny & Associates are a Japanese talent agency that pumps out 'Menudo-type' groups called "Johnny's"). That said, I haven't the slightest idea what the lyrics say so maybe it's a little more twisted than what comes across at first blush, I dunno... Japanese Popstars:
