Catching the 1130am matinee today. Just easier to do an early movie and skip the bullshit. Breakfast and a movie!
Just got back. AV3 is the best of the series so far. Lots of character development both new and familiar. Be advised, there is no cherry at the end of the credits so don't waste your time sitting there waiting on it. Decent trailers too. Lots of reboots this summer. FF4 coming back different. So is Terminator. Looks like a good summer for action pictures. I'll pass on 50 Shades "darker".
Thought about taking my four year old son to see it. Is it too long? would a four year old that loves super heroes be able to sit through it?
Well JB, I'm not sure a 4 year old would get it. This AV was perhaps the darkest one of the three. More suited to the PG-13 crowd than a 4 year old. Its also transitional as they introduce several new characters. Maybe wait until its out on PPV. Its fairly long, but its not slow at all. Somewhere in the 2hr range I think. You would like it, the kid might like it, but I'm not so sure it's suitable for a 4 year old. JMHO.
Yeah you know I liked Ultron...But they totally showed him differently in the trailers. I thought he was going to be menacing and brutal, but he had this really funny tone to him. He was making jokes and making silly faces that I never expected. Totally a Joss Whedon approach there, I thought Ultron was pure evil...He sort of was a nice guy evil character
Yeah his personality is NOTHING like the comics. Then again, Ultron was created by Ant-man in the comics. Would have preferred this version, but I liked the movie overall - excellent fighting, some plot holes but still a really good movie. I think GOTG and Cap 2 are still better overall.
I feel it's so hard to compare those to each other. The Avengers: Age of Ultron had so much to live up to, that it is probably judged unfairly by most. I thought they did a great job. The Winter Soldier was great because it was done in a way that none of the other Marvel movies had been done. Guardians had no expectations at all, and hit it out of the park. All 3 are great films, I would say. Joss Whedon deserves special credit for both his Avengers films though. They are not easy to pull off, and he did it twice.
Ultron the character, not the movie, was a bit of a let down for me. He was supposed to be stronger and smarter than all of them combined, but they pretty much beat him every time they fought him. Captain America was pretty much able to handle him 1 on 1 and he was far outclassed as far as firepower/abilities. Sure, he was trying to destroy Earth, but I just never really felt like there were large stakes. My other problem is Hulk and I didn't really notice it in the first movie, but it stands out more now. When he becomes Hulk he is a totally uncontrollable force that they occasionally have to work together to stop. This happened in both movies. But in the end, when fighting the "bad guy" Hulk appears to have complete control over who he attacks and what he is doing. That doesn't make any sense. I still enjoyed the movie. Looking forward to Civil War and GotG 2. Hopefully they set up Thanos a bit more, since we have seen him, know what he is after, but have no real idea of who/what he is.
Cap 2 was fantastic because they did something that is very hard to do...Make Captain America look badass and cool
