I don't think I would ever pay for an autograph.. but thats just me.. ive gotten autographs through the mail from Garrett Anderson, Mike Mussina, and someone else for free
Im shocked! players charging for autographs! thats unheard of over here in the UK. I think instead what they tend to do over here is that they get an appearance fee from the shop or place they are appearing. Then they kind of stipulate that they would like you to buy and item for them to sign, but even then that is not enforced.
I called up about the Cotchery/Washington one. I bough an 8x10 of both ($5 2x), an autograph of both ($20 2x), and a Steiner COA ($5 2x). The total charge for me was $60. So there is no extra charge. You do have to pay for shipping though, which was $7
If you mail a letter to the stadium with a baseball card or football card or whatever and a good note they will sometimes send you back it signed. I've gotten about 3 of 7 back.
I met the sack exchange at the one in Huntington back in Sept. I really wanted to go to this one(Cotch and Leon),but can't make it.
just a reminder, tomorrow in Massapeque there is a signing. Shaun Ellis Nick Mangold Chris Baker Bobby Hamilton $20 for each auto on anything. Any extra $10 if you want it personalized. An extra $5 if you want the Steiner COA. If you cannot make it, you can call them up at 516-541-6326. You can buy and 8x10 for $5, and they will get it signed for you. The total for one will be $37 ($20 for the auto, $5 for the picture, $5 for the picture, $7 for shipping)
I have only wanted 2 autographs in my life (Muhammad Ali and Steve Somers).... I know Leon and I won't ask him for an autograph! I'm glad that he's getting paid though.
I went to a signing yesterday in Huntington. It was Cotchery, Bryan Thomas, and Mark Gastineau. I only got Cotch and BT, didn't have enough cash for Gastineau. I gotta say, both Cotch and BT were 2 of the nicest guys I've ever met. I knew Cotchery would be really nice, but wasn't so sure about Thomas for some reason. I got 2 mini-helmets signed: These signings, while they cost money, are usually very good. The players interact with the fans well, allow you to take pictures, and if it's empty like the one yesterday, you can talk with them for a good while. It was a great experience.
