Looks like Dorsey is going #2. If the Falcons take Matt Ryan #3, then we should get either McFadden, Gholston, or Chris Long. I just hope they stand pat at #6. We need that early 2nd round pick. Hopefully crazy Al Davis takes Chris Long and leaves McFadden to us. Now if the Falcons take someone else, or trade the pick, we might be screwed. Can't wait. http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/ Go Jets!
The Jets could use any of Ryan, McFadden, Long, and Gholston... so I definitely agree that they should stay put. I'd be stunned if Dorsey fell, so at least one of them will be available to us... most likely Gholston.
I disagree. I think the Rams hold the key. There are 3 players left we'd like to have at 6 - Gholston, McFadden, or Long. If the Rams take any of those guys, there's a decent chance all 3 will be gone by the time we pick. The Falcons's Top 2 at this point include Dorsey and Ryan (allegedly). So if the Rams take Dorsey, the Falcons should take Ryan (at least according to every mock I've seen), leaving Gholston, McFadden, and Long to be distributed among spots 4-6, since the Falcons aren't really interested in any of them.
If Dorsey and Ryan go 2 and 3, we WILL get Long, Gholston, or McFadden. That I can guarantee, unless we somehow trade down. I do think Atlanta will take Ryan though. Only other option is they might wait til round 2 and try to pick up Brohm or Flacco. I hope someone pulls the trigger on Ryan.
The real question, and the question that cannot be answered until Draft Day is how much higher is Matt Ryan ranked above the so-called 2nd tier QBs like Brohm, Henne and Flacco? My guess is that he is not perceived to be THAT much better and alot of this Matt Ryan stuff is pre draft hype. Look at Brady Quinn dropping like Lindsey Lohans pants at the Chateau Marmont. If im the Falcons I know I can get my QB later and not spend all that cash.
i think we gotta trade with the raiders somehow...get that 4th pick and grab mcfadden....i dont c the raiders passing on him
Atlanta is not taking Ryan Living down here in Atl. I can tell you if the Falcons took Ryan there would be riots (of all 10 people who are Falcons' fans). Papers are full of Falcons trading out of the position. They don't like any of the possibilities right now but the one they most dislike is taking Ryan.
The Falcons won't take Ryan and Nobody will trade up to us to get him. We are screwed. Tangini can not take the risk of picking Ryan and having Baltimore trade into the top of the second or Bottom of the first for another Qb. Ryan will fall to Baltimore.
I think Tangini can take the risk because we have no QB with the possibility of being an a great QB. They will have their jobs long enough to groom him into a starter as well, since i believe it will take one full season before he is ready to go.
If Long, Gholston, and McFadden are off the boards at #6. Would a 4-3 scheme team be willing to trade up to get Sedrick Ellis (maybe the Bengals) and leave us in position to possibly get Keith Rivers. Maybe swap 1st pick for 1st pick and the Bengals' 3rd pick? The Ravens trading up for Ryan if he's still there is out of the question. Ozzie isn't that stupid. He knows if Ryan makes it past the Falcons, he's falling to #8
If this love for McFadden by the CS is legit, I could see us trading down to Atlanta's spot to take him before the Raiders can. I'm not in favor of this, but I could see it happening.
I read in The Times (The Trenton Times) this morning in a article on the Philadelphia draft that the Jets are totally sold on McFadden due to the extensive background checking as well as any other intangible that they can think of; the rumor is that the Jets plan on trading up to the Rams spot or Atlanta's spot to ensure that McFadden is on our ballclub.
