we would have a : 4000 yard passer TWO 1000+ yard 10+ TD WR's top 10 running game top 5 defense 3rd in the league in take aways/ game (almost last in 2014). In all my time as a jets fan I dont think I have ever seen a passing offense like this, and to top it off it was all without sacrificing our defense or our running game that the team is traditionally known for. I would have maybe assumed the rushing offense would be good and the defense would be good but not this whole package, this is truely one of the better turn arounds in NFL history IMO. bravo bowles/mac keep it up!
At the start of the season did you think that all of this would happen and we would still miss the playoffs? Sickening the way this league is set up.
i wont talk about missing it until we miss it. but I will say the core of this team will be back next season and we have our draft picks... I think a successful team shunned from a playoff birth in year 2 of a new regime with more familiarity with eachother/ the system will be playing with a huge chip on their shoulder... other teams should be worried!
Bowles and Gailey quietly becoming the Dynamic Duo Of course, after this weekend I may have to take that back..lol Hope we get the good Fitz all 4 qtrs too
Three and four I would have believed easily. Two, well Marshall and Decker definitely had that talent but it was hard to see any of our QB's getting those kind of numbers out of them.
We are a better team thn the 8-8 I predicted Thank IK for all this, Geno would have us crashed and burned by now the season stats are unbelieveable A top 10 defense and offense? Sometime I think iam dreaming This QB and team all about heart now . Motivation from here on into next season should be off the charts On Sunday we turn a page in our recent history
I knew we'd have a decent chance at having a good defense but I'm amazed at how well the team has come together. One of the words that comes to mind is "complete." This is one of the most complete Jets teams I've seen in a long time. Competant QB Check..... Big play wide receiver Check..... Big Play Corner Check..... Dominant DL Check.... Almost all the parts of the winning team are there. And I give Macc as much credit as much as anybody. He didn't have this shortsighted "build for the future" BS that failed in the past. If Bowles finds a way to beat Satan and Co. This weekend, I'd say we are a team of consequence now.
Let's see what happens Sunday guys. You never know. This year's team may surprise us and win this game. If so I'm pretty sure they'll take Buffalo. We only need one other game not in our control to fall our way...........have faith! Hey it's Christmas and the Jets are still alive.......most of us would have gladly taken that in August.
To continue if the Jets don't beat NE the season was still relatively successful. A good first season under Mac/ Bowles......sign a solid FA or two this offseason, solidify the OL, get some young LBs and some speed on offense and maybe they challenge for the division title as early as next season.....
Honestly... none of that stuff really matters to me.. Especially not right now.. None of it would mean anything to me if we don't get into the playoffs.. Lots of surprises this season, but if we have our season ended Sunday, I couldn't care less.
I guess the negatives would have to be very average against the pass defensively ...and the special teams is a dumpster fire...also the running game isn't what it was in Sep/Oct Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I doubted Gailey a bit at the beginning and beyond some of the little things that bother me about him he's been a very good coordinator for us. He uses Marshall and Decker as well as any coordinator in the league would and has maximized Fitzpatrick's strengths without allowing teams to truly zone in on his weakness. Fitzpatrick has surprised me as well as I expected a season where he'd throw around 20-24 touchdowns with 16-18 picks as that's what he's always done. Very pleased with his decision making and most importantly his ability to complete passes over the deep middle of the field. It completely disguises the fact that he doesn't throw well outside the numbers because it's incredibly hard to flood the entire middle of the field with zone defenders. There's not mang quarterback options heading into next season and it's considered a weak QB class. I just hope he can keep this rolling for another year or two until we draft a replacement or Petty flat out beats him out.
Fitz has simply been a godsend to this team. On leadership alone...think of what we've suffered through for the last decade. Clemens. Farve. Sanchez. Clemens. McElroy? Smith. Vick. Gives me a headache just thinking about it. Sanchez did have his moments though. I really loved that kid for a minute.
