Aside from firing Bowles, Bates, etc., what do you want to see that could "salvage" the rest of the season? Things that will give you hope for going forward? - McGuire as the feature back over Crowell - Kearse loses his targets to Burnett, who actually has a (potential) future with this team - Herndon sees more and more targets - Tomlinson is strictly in for blocking purposes, and only thrown the ball if he is wide open. No pass-play designs with him in mind - Henry Anderson starts every week. Was he even in all that much yesterday vs Miami?? - Let Nickerson play more. He's a WIP, but similar to Burnett, actually has a future with this team
I would like to see a swift end to the season with no significant injuries to Darnold or Adams - that would count as a win at this point for me.
I like all of your suggestions, cutting Kearse would be an option, but he would give an effort with Pats.... more screen passes (that are designed better)... quicker slant plays... bunch formations....
Not sure Burnett has a future with this team. His first game wasn't impressive, second was good 4 catches on 4 targets , 0 for 2 yesterday . He's on a one year deal. I'm fine with him replacing Kearse, no fucking effort, dropping balls and you can tell he doesn't care. I honestly like to see some guys cut. Send a signal that even in this shit show of a lost season, guys are going to be held accountable. There's nothing to lose. I don't think that Bowles gets fired before the end of the season. Do we actually have anyone on the staff capable of taking over as intrim HC.
I’d like to see Bowles banging on the bus window then running after it as it leaves the parking lot without him. Then as the bus is leaving the parking lot it stops, opens the doors and Bates & Rodgers get thrown off.
-The growth and progression of Darnold -The growth and progression of Adams -Johnson show something -Williamson continue to make plays -Herndon continue to become a solid TE -Robby and Sam form chemistry
3-13 and a top 5 pick, this is the only thing that salvages anything from this shitstorm of a season.
Darnold have at least 3 more good games. Everyone stay healthy. We don't see another game like the Dolphins game.
Across the board improvement. This last game needs to be the post-Kotite rock bottom for this franchise.
Dream scenario -- Darnold to throw at least 10 tds at a 2:1 TD:INT ratio. But that would require Bates calling plays to allow him to get into rhythm. Hahahahahahahahhahahahaha
I'd like to see Darnold, Adams, and Lee continue to improve McGuire and Cannon get more reps at RB Kearse to be cut to show that a lack of effort will cost you your job Herndon to be the primary TE for the rest of the year
I would like to see Darnold unleashed. Something to build on during this awful season. I would like to see every rookie play if possible. That can help eliminate some offseason personnel targets. Or it can say that this is where we need to look this offseason.
Where possible play roster members that aren’t free agents/RFAs so we aren’t held to ransom by marginal/injured players at seasons end. We’ll have too many gaps to fill in free agency but I’d like to minimize overpaying some jag purely because he looked above average for 10 minutes in week 4. Oh, and Top 5 draft pick.
Start Sam the rest of the way, have him learn on the field and allow him to throw downfield with a purpose Allow Sam to learn how to bounce back from losses (which will be coming fast and furiously) See if R Anderson can run anything but a go route Bench Long and see if his replacement can snap a friggin ball the team finish 5-11, wind up in a position to draft a FQB, trade back in the draft with a team desperate for a QB and take them for all its worth
