Unsure if this is true, it seems like an exaggeration, but I know I'm not alone in feeling the frustration that they never jump on a ball the other team puts on the ground. It's probably exaggerated for effect, but it ain't far off!
It is an exaggeration but the Jets do seem to suck at recovering fumbles - looking at the last 5 full seasons: - 2023 - ranked 32nd - 2022 - ranked 30th - 2021 - ranked 31st - 2020 - ranked 27th - 2019 - ranked 29th
Another random fact that's actually true... Now with this 5 game losing streak, for the 1st time the Jets have at least 5 game losing streaks in 3 consecutive seasons.
The Jets defense has 5 forced fumbles and 4 fumbles recovered on the season. 2 recovered by Quinnen, 1 by Clark and I don't care enough to see the 4th.
134 forced fumbles in 4.5 seasons seems like we’d be fielding the 85 Bears defense mixed with the 2000 Ravens every single year.
I'm too lazy for the exact math, but that would be like 1.4ish fumbles a game. I'll go with it's not real.
you know what else is a astonishing feat? burning 3 timeouts in the 1st quarter, must of have been the 1st time in nfl history because I never seen that before watching a nfl game before, just show you we are not even a nfl team. Another astonashing stat is the Jets are the 2nd team ever to lose 5 straight games were they werent more than 3 point underdogs in any of them.
I truly think Rodgers is playing stoned. It’s completely inexcusable for a rookie to have so many delay of game issues/penalties but for a HOF player like Rogers? WTF is he doing in the huddle?
bizarrely year to date I think the Jets are #2 on the list but still plenty of time to slump back to the usual level
Take a look at this stat. Football Perspective on X: "The Jets scored 20+ points, committed 0 turnovers, and held their opponent to under 250 yards of offense. From 1940 until yesterday, teams were 756-0 when they hit those three metrics. But the Jets lost to New England today, 25-22." / X
I mean, this is a perfect microcosm of the problem. I don't think anybody really knows _why_ the Jets are losing. They _should_ be winning with this roster and the way they are playing, honestly. This should be a 5-3 team this year, not just based on talent but based on the way they have actually played. The best comment I saw in another thread was basically indicating that the Jets were incredibly unlucky in close games. Maybe that's luck, maybe that's our kicker. But what that indicates is, if we change our kicker and our luck reverts to the mean, that might be all we need to turn this around. (or we could just blow everything up ... again
Interestingly if you just say the Jets lost a game with zero turnovers and holding their opponent under 250 yards the last time that happened was in 2012 and Aaron Rodgers lost that game too
