    The New York Jets situation.....

Hey everyone I'm finally back after about 2 years. I just wanted to let everyone know that ill be postin here through the offseason and try to give my very best input into how i feel about the team thus far.

THE SEASON: I felt that this season was a very good building block for the team in the ultimate scheme of things. However, I also know that we DID have to play a fairly easy-average schedule. The things I liked seeing was that whole "PLAY FOR EACH OTHER" mentality. That is an extremely important aspect to building for a future potential "powerhouse" organization. The whole thing about Chad playing a whole season for once seems like a refreshing thought but I sometimes get this feeling inside that he "really" can't get that much better than he already is. I mean fine you can say that he needs a break after all those injuries but I say that we've seen enough to pass judgement. Again, it was great seeing all of the players giving their best efforts and I can honestly say that at least for some of us, it was probably more manageable to see our team losing THIS year rather than 2 years ago in Pittsburgh. Reason being that it seemed liked they played the very best they possibly could have and thats all you can ask for.

Things we need to work on: As far as rookies go i can say that I more than tip my hat to the front office for choosing the right players. Mangold is over-achieving for a guy with his experience and that is great to see. However, I am a little concerned with D'brick's size and stature. I really hope that experience pays off for him but I definately know that a "Franchise" left tackle should not have givin up that many sacks in his first season although I will give him the benefit of the doubt. If he doesn't screw around in the offseason and works hard at his game then theres no stopping this O-Line from being "very good." He probably needs to put on more weight and then he'd be a monster. As for Leon, cudos! You deserve the medal of honor for your cat like quickness and agility and will most likely go down as an extremely important "change of pace" back like westbrook once was. The receivers need no adjustments. Baker is good enough. I don't care what anyone says, all of that "hes not a good route runner" is bullshit. He's a fu$'in tight end for cryin out loud. Just throw that shit up for him lol. They only weakness I can really say that is holdin us back with this offense is that CHAD CANNOT MAKE THOSE NECESSARY TIGHT THROWS AND USUALLY DOESN'T TRY CUS HE KNOWS HE CAN'T. HE SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO HIT THE WEIGHT ROOM. you can blast me for sayin it but u know its true.

The Defense: First off, we DESPERATELY need a Monster In The Middle or there is no point in going any farther with this arguement. "hey dewayne! yeah umm.....you've got great quickness and a good motor...but umm.....you seriously can't hold your ground to save your life....so.....bye bye." and its true, you can agree as well so start to post some potential big time nose tackle rookies. and dont start feeding me that "well....we got a guy named pouha" I don't even need to argue this cus it speaks for itself if you know the history. A guy like Ngata is what we need in the draft. The Von Oelhoffin experiment has failed so we will also basically need to revamp the D-Line because as we have finally learned,,,you need to be extremely big and strong on the line in the 34. Obviously! As for everything else, I would say that I personally feel very secure about the other spots but heres a point of opinion. How about trading Vilma. Ok....just take a breath before you go nuts and yes....i know hes a leader. But we have lots of leaders and also.......you HAVE TO ADMIT... vilma is just average when put in the 34 unless the de line gets better. if it does, keep vilma. if they do not get bigger and better, then trade him and get a shit load of value. hes only ELITE whne in the 43 but in 34 hes kindve average. actually.....i would still say hes pretty good but why not get alot more if you can get a better deal. Kerry Rhodes is slowly establishing himself as a smart, cool, confident leader so anyone that goes won't leave much of a dent cus Rhodes is our future Rodney.

Let me know what you guys think and once again I would like to say that its nice to be back

I basically agree with what you are saying for the most part for the beginning two paragraphs, concerning how we did this season and the offense. However, it is your assessment of the defense where I completely lose you. DeWayne showed that he can be a guy who plugs up the middle, maybe not a huge guy, but towards the end of the season he really was helping to stop the run. Also, I don't think we should trade Vilma. Give him one more year in the 3-4 and mix in some 4-3 and then we will see how he can do. The defensive line was not quite strong enough (yes, Von Oelhoffen was a weak link) and the guards and tackles got up on him.

Completely disagree. We let up 4.6 YPC this season, and we had a pudding-soft schedule. If we want to start winning division titles, we've got a long way to go; by comparison, the Patsies gave up 3.95, Buffalo gave up 3.7, and Miami gave up 3.51. Robertson had maybe his best year yet, but he is NOT a nose tackle. He can platoon into NT on passing downs, but we need someone to clog the middle on 1st and 2nd down or we'll continue getting gashed on the ground and Vilma will continue fading into mediocrity.

Next year we have to deal with McGahee, Ronnie Brown, and Dillon/Maroney, as usual. Our non-division schedule is chock full of great rushing attacks too:

    -Bryan Westbrook
    -Larry Johnson
    -Willie Parker
    -Jamal Lewis
    -Rudi Johnson
    -Julius Jones/Marion Barber III

If Robertson is alone in there against all those guys, say hello to 6-10.

People keep clamoring for a new RB, and no doubt that's important. But I think our top offseason priority is finding a new nose tackle. The 3-4 will not run with any consistent effectiveness until we get one.

I love Amobi Okoye from Louisville, and he's the only guy in the entire draft that I think is worth trading up to get (he probably won't last until #25). I hope we take a good long look at him.

I believe the Jets first round pick is 26. They have a total of six this year, 1 in the 1st Round, 2 in the second (one we pick up from Washington number 37 I believe and Jets own 2nd), 1 in the third, 1 in the fifth, and 1 in the sixth.

I have a feeling Tanny will be doing some wheeling and dealing. He has stated many time he wants to build through the draft and add depth. So he will be looking to get more picks I am sure. Probably see him moving down in the 3rd or 5th to pick up a 7th. Maybe he can fleece Washington again.

And if you want to see what I think the teams needs are, look at my sig. Hope this helped you a bit.
