Everyone seems to be down on this team lately, myself included. Nobody cared enough to make a thread for this weekend.

But now that's all over. They've bottomed out. This team is still the best in the AL when at its best and I'm feeling a rebound.

    Monday: 7:10 PM Beckett (11-4) Cahill (6-8)
    Tuesday: 7:10 PM Buchholz (1-1) Mazzaro (2-7)
Wednesday: 7:10 PM ET Penny (7-4) Anderson (5-8)
    Thursday: 1: 35 PM Lester (9-7) Gonzalez (2-2)

I hope they make a legitimate attempt at Gonzalez. He would be a perfect fit and is still young, but that's why he'd probably drain the entire system. He's one of the few guys out there that would be worth it. The Padres are so far away from contending, and their farm system could use some life.

They should be down on them there 8-0 against the Yanks and yet there still 2 1/2 games back.

I missed all the games this weekend as usual, but that's probably good. I needed a break from this team. I like the new rumors about Lee and Martinez in a package. That would be amazing.

My bad on the starting times. Starting threads while baked can result in things like that, from time to time. Anyways, good game last night. Laroche's swing looks absolutely perfect for fenway. I hope he makes a habit out of going the other way.

what's funny is his HR came against a lefty, which is his enemy. obviously theo did his homework on a guy who seems perfect for fenway, with his oppo like swing. let's see clay get this to 2 games, and with a lefty on the hill vs inept oakland (i know lester got hit around by them last time), we should have a series win here.

According to WEEI, the Red Sox are close to a trade that would send Cliff Lee to Boston for a package of Michael Bowden, Josh Reddick, and one more prospect.

if this is the price for lee, i'd rather pay the REPORTED price for halladay.

If true that's an okay deal, assuming the "other prospect" is a low level guy not named Casey Kelly. If this is it and Martinez is not included it would be sort of strange. Tek and Lowell's health are two of the most glaring weaknesses on the team, and Martinez would fit that need so well. Reddick is definitely a guy I'd be sorry to go because he sounds like he has huge upside, but he didn't have great plate influence and could struggle when he's facing more off-spead stuff.

    edit: It's bullshit

No way. That would be an amazing deal for the Sox, and better overall than the Halladay deal. Buchholz is better than Bowden, Westmoreland is a better prospect than Reddick, and Lee is a very, very good pitcher that will be cheaper than Halladay. Depending on the other prospect involved this would be great. I'd like to see them get Martinez in there somehow too though.

Kelly and Bard are reported to be untouchable, but if he WAS somehow included I imagine Martinez would HAVE to be involved as well.

Eck is goofy as hell and sounds like he's a lot dumber than he really is. He's a straight shooter and doesn't give you any bullshit, which makes him a cut above a lot of guys already. He says some dumb things but he's surprised me with some good analysis at times.
