I am happy that we are making alot of moves but are we overpaying for guys that might be on their decline. I truly hope not. I know there has been alot of desparate talk on here, I dont agree with that. But I do think we are making some unwise decisions. Most of the guys we have gotten, were at sometime pretty good but they also have the tag of being lazy. Is that what we want? Also arent you supposed to give big contracts to guys who have been consistently good for at least a couple of years. So far, we have guys on the decline and a LB who had one good year. I know everyone loves Fanaca(or however u spell it) but his skills seem to be dimishing. If Im wrong Ill be the first to admit it. Im excited about next year but also a little concerned. The yankees signed a bunch of guys who used tobe good(Randy Johnson, Kevin Brown, etc) how did that turn out. Feel free to bash me lol.

All these moves are putting us in a better position to compete for the AFC East next year. Tannenbaum understands the importance of the draft and wants to build the entire core of the team from the draft. Everything thats going on now is positive.

or are we the Pats of the 2000s? It all depends on whether they work out.

I agree. Im just a little nervous if these guys dont pan out we have them for a couple of years. It seems we are taking some big chances. But Im very excited about next year, now if we just had a QB lol. Dont want to start any arguments. Im keeping my fingers crossed. I also dont like giving away 1st round pics for late round pics but I guess we really didnt have a choice.

Im nervous because we gave a Lb who had one good year all that money instead of going after Lance Briggs. Faneca should be fine but the rest seem like classic Yankee panic moves. Maybe the Giants winning the Sb had something to do with it.

Lance doesn't want to play in the 3-4...nor is he suited for it. Big risky move on signing Pace, however I think it'll work out.

There is no cap in baseball so, nothing we have done compares.

Don't ever compare the Jets to the Yankees. That's disrespectful to the entire Yankees organization.

heres a real simple answer. I could only hope the Jets are the yankees of the eraly 200's...that would mean we will go to three superbowls and win one of them since the yankees won in 2000, lost the series in 01 and 03. I kow what youre trying to say but you picked a really stupid time frame my man....did you mean to say, "are the yankees of the mid 80's"? That would make sense. But I sure hope to hell that we are the yankees of the early 2000's, Id sign for that right now!

Desperation makes teams do strange things at times. The Jenkins move was sound, assuming he can really play 3-4 NT. It does put the Jets depth under a bit of pressure again. The Faneca signing was just smooth, period. Weakest starter on the team becomes maybe the strongest in one move without giving up any talent compensation. The Pace signing was a bridge too far, given what the Jets paid, and it highlights how foolish they were not to make a major move for Adalius Thomas last year. Give Thomas the contract they gave Pace and he's a Jet. The Woody move? Well, who knows at this point.

All things considered the product on the field is going to be stronger next season and that's what the Jets were trying to do given that Mangini and Tannenbaum don't have any 4-12/5-11 type seasons left in their tenure at this point, not if they want to keep their jobs.

I'll take being the Yankees of the early 2000's. Win our division every year and a few Super Bowl appearances. I say DEAL!

johnny d, i meant 2003-2006, definitely did not mean the 80's. Overpaying for Giambi as soon as we lost the 2001 series cause of no offense. Clemens, brown, randy johnson, raul mondesi, jaret wright, carl pavano,

That comparison was better for NE last year, a team trying to re-start a dynasty. That's what the yanks did earlier this decade and it didn't work just like it didn't work for the Pats. I see alot of similarities in the Yanks WS loss of '01 compared to the Pats SB loss this year.

We are hopefully on the way up adding pieces here and there. I doubt the spending continues at this pace, i don't think we can continue to get high priced FAs.

You can find big trade and free agent acquisitions on most contending teams in every sport.

Maybe the 2000's Yankees haven't won a championship, yet, but they're always in contention which is all you can ever ask from your team.

If the Jets get to the point where they're always in the conversation for favorites to win the SuperBowl, I for one would be ecstatic.

i hate the calvin pace vs lance briggs comparisions... briggs plays on what has been a dominant defense for the past several years, and pace plays on the cardinals.

also, this "one good year" that pace had happened to be last year, when he was put into the 3-4 defense.

was he overpaid?? probably.. but i think we are starting to understand that may be what it takes to get quality players to a team that is not considered an immediate contender.

last years draft was the first chance we got to see the types of players that our FO wanted to bring in.. and i think they did a pretty damn good job. i guess we have a pretty long way to the draft and even longer til the season, so all we can do is talk about these new players.. but i reallllly cant wait til the season starts to see the impact these players are going to have on the team..

we are one position away from completely proving that theory wrong. It all starts with our mess at QB. If we get that sorted out, we will contend.

this is all based on the idea that we will another pass rushing OLB and WR in the draft. Its practically inevitable.
