I know there's been stuff posted about this but it really still baffles me that we haven't seen more of this kid in games.
MNF we saw him enter the game when we were on the 2 yard line which i was a little surprised about but i mean why not at least give this guy the ball at least 5 or 6 times a game?
There have been games where our ground game has been MIA so why not throw in a sparkplug to try and jump start something?
They obviously have to trust him enough to put him in cold running out of the endzone so WTF?

You look at some of these other backs like Brown in Indy and Moreno in Denver and they're getting shots, so why not SG?

Greene has to stay healthy before anything else

he takes the handoff and explodes through the gap. Its fun to watch him run, but its scarce because he's a rookie and the Jets have 2 Pro Bowl RBs.

    he'll be around for years.

Also, Moreno and Brown don't have 2 guys in front of them. That needs to be taken into consideration.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Greene is merely being kept fresh for later on in the season. Why put the mileage on him when you have two pro-bowl caliber backs ahead of him?

He had about 4 carries against the saints and averaged about 6.0 yards a rush
Last week he carried the ball 3 times and averaged about 3.0 yards so far 7 carries for 31 yards 4.4 per rush. Not alot of work but still solid when he does get the rock. Hope we see a little more of him if T.J. cant get going.

Thomas Jones is hardly playing at a pro bowl level, neither is Leon for that matter. It is time to start easing the transition from Jones to Greene. I have seen enough of Jones to know he is just about finished.

I'm willing to bet that Greene shows up a lot more as the season progresses. I don't think that Jones will make it to the end as the starter.

Remember 2 years ago when TJ ran for ONE TD, Chad got killed, Kellen danced his way to a losing record?

It was the OL then as it is now. General Macarther driving an M1 Tank couldn't get yards behind our OL. Now Woody, our best run blocker, has a hurt foot. You do the math.

Well said. I definitely think Faneca's slippage as well as the rest of the crew is slowing the run game. As stout as Mangold is, he's only one guy. He can't protect the entire line. Faneca, Moore, D'Brick, and Woody are not the elite crew we were hoping for. We can only hope they shore it up against the weaker teams...

It's part the OL, but if you want to ignore the way TJ is running, it just makes your argument weak and without merit. TJ is just not running with a lot of effort. Unless, ahem, he's on the goal line. He stops before the LOS, does a cute little hop, and teams are gameplanning it. His running style is very easy to stop.

Knowshon Moreno is a top ten pick, if he wasn't getting a shot he would be called a bust.

He's been doing that his entire career, that's the way he runs. Part of it has been TJ, part OL and part the D's wanting to make a rookie QB throw the football.

I have seen Thomas run with a lot of effort, like from week 5 through about week 15 last season. Then I saw him do it briefly against the Saints after Greene was inserted for carries. He stops doing that idiotic hop cut so much and actually hits the hole with speed, and he fights forward for yards instead of turning his back to defenders and falling backwards. I think he needs to lose carries to gain effectiveness.

He always runs w/ effort but he always dances too. That's just the way he runs, it's been effective for him.

Not always. Watched TJ like a hawk last season and have been doing the same this season. Go back and watch his carries in the Saints game, before and after Shonn Greene got into the game. TJ was hitting the hole with FAR more authority afterwards.

I don't have much to add, but I do agree with abyzmul here. TJ just doesn't run tough and doesn't fight for yards. That's not the line, that's him.

Personally, I want Greene to get carries, but I want Leon to be the #1 back for now.

Agree 100%, I see no reason why this hasn't been done.

With Tony Richardson in there Leon can follow him beautifully.

Hopefully we'll see that this game, Rex has to recognize what's going on.

his lack of presence might have something to do with keeping him fresh, however, as someone already mentioned, he has been injured quite a bit.

Yea, that damn "hop" is like a big, fucking neon sign. He isn't a fast enough back to stop/start his feet.

I would like to see him phased out and Greene phased in. But it looks like maybe Greene needs a more time in the weight room to get tougher. TJ isn't doing anything for this team that I can see. Without a couple of 15-20 yard runs, his avg would be closer to 1.5 then 3.7.
