If the Jets lose Saturday, NE will most likely get the Ravens. Who would Belicheck rather play? Jets or Ravens?

If NE would prefer the Jets, then we got a bunch of 'one day fans' up north!

of course they would. The pats have owned us for a decade. They raped us just a little over a month ago in their house. The Ravens destroyed them in NE in the playoffs last year, and played them extremely tough post Moss-trade.

The Pats hate us, there is no way in hell they might underestimate us and they might allow us to sneak up behind them and steal the game out from under them.

Obviously, any given sunday rule applies here. So we can walk in there and kick their ass, but its not exactly a highly believable scenario, at least in NE.

So yeah they want us much more than the Ravens. But we can't worry about what happens in round 2, until we get through round 1. And it sucks that we got stuck with a tough first round matchup. A very tough game stands ahead us Saturday with Peyton Manning, but we are ready to go into Indy and put them down.

I think the Patriots would prefer the Colts and the Ravens to get knocked out before they get to Foxboro. They've had trouble with both of those teams, lately.

. . . wait for it. Some Patriots fan is poised to chime in about how the Patriots beat both the Ravens and Colts this year. By the skin of their teeth, in both cases.

I think the Pats are big favorites against either team but if they did lose to us it would be much more difficult to deal w/ than losing to Baltimore.

Everyone from Mass knows that people from Cambridge are bitches btw, just had to let that be known. Not nearly as bad as Marblehead, but still pretty bad.

    Who are the threats?

One set of power rankings has the AFC playoff teams ranked as follows.

    Patriots 1
    Steelers 3
    Ravens 4
    Jets 6
    Colts 9
    KC 10

The Patriots seem to traditionally match up well against the Steelers, so I'm personally not as worried about them as many. The Patriots struggled against the Colts in recent years, but the Colts get weaker as the season progresses, while the Patriots have been improving. The Ravens came into Foxboro last year with much more intensity than the Patriots. Yah, they play the Patriots rough, but the Patriots didn't really get their act together until Thanksgiving. I'm not sure you can look at the early season games and use that to predict how things would happen at this point.

Playing in Foxboro, I'd consider the Patriots to be favored over any of them, but there are no certainties.

i'd like to see you say that with a straight face in person. with all the posts i've read on our board i don't think we can call any teams fan base stupid. just go back and read posts about what jets fans think of where sanchez or rex rate amongst the league and you just have to laugh at the total homers that know so little about the real nfl.

we have those presently on this board that have put sanchez as being or going to be amongst the league elite of qb's. AT HIS PRESENT STAGE AND WHAT HE'S SHOWN TO DATE, THAT'S LAUGHABLE! STATS PRESENTLY PUT HIM AMONGST THE BOTTOM THIRD OF QB'S IN THIS LEAGUE AND HE HASN'T SHOWN ANYTHING TO PUT HIM ANY HIGHER THAN A GAME MANAGER FOR THE FUTURE.

then we have the rex ryan comparison as being a god amongst the present day coaching fraturnity. in reality, team coaching, players and management has made the jets look like dysfunction junction of all the teams in the nfl. rex's game management has been amongst the bottom in the league and his hands on control of the whole team, offense and defense is suspect.

and the original poster judges other teams fans as stupid? op needs head examined!

from what we've seen, the pats are playing far better ball presently than when they played those teams and the jets are in a slide if you hadn't noticed.

i would inmagine that pats fans would like to see the ravens for revenge for last year. pats overall record against the ravens is far better than they're record against the jets over the past 10 years. jets team has a better win percentage than the ravens against the pats.

^^^ fair enough, 'stupid' was meant as looking at ones team with rose colored glassed, ignoring the obvious, and that applied to all fans, yes, even us.

coaches, on the other hand, watch hour after hour of game film and plan accordingly. 'just the facts'.

so with belicheck currently preparing for both the jets and the ravens, which team is 'easier' to prepare for? who would the NE coaching staff rather play in week 2?

i still think the pats would rather have the ravens for the revenge factor and the fact that minus the monday night melt down, the jets play the pats tougher an have the better win percentage.

i remember watching espn early in the season and seeing an interview of brady talking about their win over the ravens and how he hated the ravens for all the talking they did about beating the pats in the playoffs, when the team head to head record was something like pats 9 to 1 winning record.

i think brady hates the ravens as much as he hates the jets, so me thinks brady would like to see the ravens for payback. jmho

Yeah. I'm sure Bill Belichick has revenge first and foremost on his mind.

The Patriots want the easiest path to the Superbowl. Period. Where I'm sure they'd love to meet the Seahawks.

Somewhere on Bill Belichick's desk there's a Post-It that lists how he'd like to progress through the playoffs:

    1. Win by forfeit
    2. Chiefs
    3. Steelers
    4. Jets
    5. Ravens
    6. Colts

Any team (except the Seahawks) is dangerous in the play-offs... it's not as easy as it seems to qualify!
