Well, are they? Or is it that they are so f'd up in the head and think BB is the greatest coach of all time? The reasson I ask is the poll on ESPN right now. It asks whether Cowher is a HOF coach. It is a t 75% yes right now. But if you hover over the NE states they have it much closer. Massachusettes has it at 59% to 41%..WTF? The guy is 146-88-1! He has 1 SB ring, 2 SB appearances, 4 division champs, and he has been in the post season 10 of 15 times. That's a HOF coach to me. Thoughts? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/index?lpos=globalnav&lid=gn_NFL_NFL
I saw the poll and thought it was insane. While 75% is pretty high, it should be higher, if I were voting, he's first ballot no questions asked. He's been with one team and shown success and rarely had a bad year. Shit, they finished 8-8 this year and they were awful.
Pats fans are miserable human beings. It's not enough for them to have success - everyone else has to fail.
I think Cowher is in the same group as Madden. They had very good teams, so people expected them to win even more than they did. Especially super bowls.
winston and I had some debate about Cowher in the thread about Saban last week. I personally think that he is an excellent coach, but others disagree ("good" and "solid" were words mentioned). I think this is much less of a no brainer to some than you think.
It must be the one tie... You can't take anything a Boston fan says seriously... Mass-holessss Maaaassss-Hoooolesssss Maaaaaaaasssssssss-Hoooollllllllessssss
I think that now that Cowher has brought home the big one, he certainly has ALL the credentials to be considered a HOF coach. He probably had them for the most part without the big win, but it seals the deal to me. New Englanders on the other hand... hehehe, where should we start? :breakdance: Maybe it is because they have BB who has brought in 3 rings and if you compare him to that... well does he measure up? Who would you rather have honestly, Cowher or Bill B? If I had to pick between the 2 I would go with BB myself.
Cowher has probably already done enough that he will be inducted into the PFHOF. He has 161 wins and a league championship. Every retired coach with 150 or more wins is in the Hall of Fame except for Chuck Knox and Dan Reeves. If Knox and Reeves each won a Super Bowl as a head coach, they'd be in the PFHOF. Schottenheimer, Parcells, Holmgren are active coaches with more than 150 wins.
Bill will get into the HOF for sure. The patriots fans are just so self obsessed that Im sure they are all thinking 'Has he got three superbowls? I dont think so, thats why Belichick is the best coach ever' Dickheads
I'm an icon. And I voted for yes as did most people from MA who voted. It's sweet that some folks are bothered that not enough of us think Cowher is a certain HOFer.
If he coached in Boston, They'd name a Soup after Him "Clam Cowherder" With a resume like that, there would be Men in Foxboro lined up to shave his Nuts for him... Screw them
New England would have 0 championships with Cowher, as he would have drafted Tee Martin over Brady like he did in Pittsburgh.
Cowher will get into the HOF because he is a solid citizen and has won at a very high rate, I think Marty and Dungy will also go in. Personally I think he has been solid not great and if you really look at that SB game last year, it should get an astrik for the incredibly piss poor job the officials did coupled with the incredibly stupid coaching by both HC. I'm not a good judge, I wouldn't put Shula in the HOF because of how he blew it so many times with the most talented teams in football. To me the list is real short of the HC I saw, Lombardi, Stram and Walsh were a cut above than I look at guys like Noll, Landry, Gibbs, BB, Jimmy Johnson and Parcells and than you start talking about Shula and Cowher. Weeb was a good HC, but not in Stram's class, I didn't see guys like Hallas and Paul Brown. I just think Cowher is a cut below guys like Madden and even Marv Levy who I wouldn't put in the HOF.
If the question was asked a year ago I would have said no but since he got the SB win I vote yes. W/o the SB win he would have had 1 SB(which is good) and I think 4 AFC Title Game losses at HOME.
Cowher was a great coach with in game limitations. He basically ran that organization for a long time and had great draft after great draft. He's developed tons of players into his system. He's always build his teams inside out. But he was never good at game planning for an opponent until this past year. He used to basically run the same offense and defense week in and week out and not make any real adjustments. That's why the Pats always had his number. The reason that Pats fans don't consider him as a hall of fame coach is that Belichek outcoached him many times. Fortunately Cowher learned from his mistakes and I'm sure in his next job in a few years he will do things differently. Even though he wasn't the best in game coach I bet just about any organization would take the last 15 years of Cowher.
I don't live in NY anymore so I often see Jets games sports bars and I can say without question the Steelers fans you find there are the most annoying bandwagon jumping obnoxious idiots I've ever seen. This is really saying something in New England.
