AP reports the Jets, fearing that Martin won't be ready for the season opener because of a career-threatening knee injury, hope to make another trade in the coming days. Two prominent names on their short list are the Falcons RB T.J. Duckett and the 49ers RB Kevan Barlow, both more accomplished than Suggs. They're "very interested" in Duckett, a source said. The Falcons, with RB Warrick Dunn and promising rookie RB Jerious Norwood, are expected to put Duckett on the trading block after this weekend's games. They're believed to be seeking a third-round pick. The Steelers, too, are thought to be interested in Duckett (6-0, 245). Duckett, a former first-rounder, is a bruising back who was used as a goal-line runner last season. In four seasons, he has rushed for 2,175yards and 31 touchdowns. Barlow, who split time last season with RB Frank Gore, also is believed to be available. Barlow (6-1, 231) has 3,614 yards and 24 touchdowns in five seasons. Currently, he's battling a thigh injury.

www.nflfans.com...it's just rumors, but I could see one of those guy's in a Jets uni.

I'm wondering if that's why the Steelers are interested in Duckett? Duce on the block maybe? Willie Parker is def going to be starting RB this year. Hmm? I'd have to think about Duce's past injuries. Bad knees or is it a bad ankle?

I dont see the reason to trade a 3rd round pick for Duckett..... we are not going anyway where this season save the pick and get a franchise runner in next years draft.

They probably just want a Bettis-like power back to pair with the speedy Parker.

Isn't that what Duce is? Power? And for some reason, I'm thinking he was healthy last year but didn't see much time because of Parker/Bettis. I'll have to check with the hubby. :steelers:

I HATTTTE when people give up on the season before it even begins? Your basically stating that were going to get a top 5 pic at MOST. We take one lousy injury riddled season and think we are going to be the shit of the league. Can you inform me where we stood a year before that? Common we cant give up on the season before it even begins... and if a coach feels that "oh lets not get this guy this year because we are going to suck" then get him the hell out of there. Once week 9 or 10 strolls along and we are 1-8 or 2-10 then thats when you start thinking about draft time....

sorry for the poor grammar im trying to type at work and dodge my boss

    I would love Staley

Damn I hope we don't use a 3rd for Duckett....I'm not that impressed with him...lets just stick with what we have if they don't want to trade duckett for jmac or strait.

I wouldnt mind duckett at all....it would be nice to have a power back like that regardless of who we may draft next year. when was the last time the jets had a back that could run people over in the 4th quarter??

I wouldnt mind a 3rd for him... hes more proven than any player in the 3rd round of next years draft. I dont like him much tho... he loves to fumble.

We shoulda just kept LaMont  We really messed that situation up cpnsidering the contract the raiders gave him. A year prior becomming a FA we could have gotten some nice pics or some players for him.

I'd prefer TJ "Chicken" Bucket to Barlow,Barlow just never cut the mustard as a starter.

duckett has yet to be a started, and he has the potential to be a dependable starter in the league if given the chance.

Does anyone grasp the concept of this is a rebuilding year why trade a pick. Why do we need to give up a pick if we are going to loose anyway? We are playing for the 2007 Adrian Peterson sweepstakes.

I just don't get why its ok to be shitty at every position EXCEPT for RB.

There are better odds of us getting good production from Tj duckett then the odds that the third round pick we have next year is succesful.. Pouha and strait were both third round picks and they both have done nothing in the careers.

    I would mind...........ALOT.

Anything more then a day 2 pick for Duckett is a big mistake, he is essentially a one year rental until we draft a back in '07. No 3rd rounders for a "hold the fort" kind of guy, I would rather just sign a vet back off the scrap heap and see what Houston and Washington can do.

Hopefully the future holds Adrian Peterson in the green and white......

I just haven't seen alot of Duckett in the falcons games to want him. And then a 3rd rounder for the guy....4th maybe but 3rd is killing me for a guy that didn't produce even when he was healthy.

I would like Frank Gore instead of barlow :) Still its all about price.
