I'm sure the answer is yes to this question for everybody, but still, WE HAVE NO PUNTER RIGHT NOW Yes, its still March, but we have all seen first hand just how having a bad punter (Graham) can screw up your team and how having a really good punter like Mike Scifres can really make a HUGE Difference. Since we are going to be a defensive and run oriented team punting will be a big key, since we don't right now look like a team that is going to score a bunch of points. Also, i'm really not high on Reggie Hodges. He was ok, but doesn't have a big leg. So how do the Jets address this, Any free agents out there? What about the draft (seems like that's where we are going. Thoughts?
hahah, that is true. do they even have punting in the combine? what do you think we'll do free agency / draft about a punter? honestly i am asking out of curiosity, not sarcasm.
i think the 6 round is waiting for us to draft one... and then he'll compete with Hodges and a free agent and who wins gets the job...
Reggie Hodges is our punter he will be this season too. Both him and Feely did good enough to stick around. Feely already got his, Hodges will come.
Punting is for women, glad we left that behind in the Mangini era. Kellen Clemens can punt, only way hes earning his roster spot... Seriously though, lets get Aaron Perez. I wouldn't spend a draft pick on him (well, I'd use a 7th on him... maybe a 6th). I may be biased as a UCLA fan, but he was excellent for us. As sad is it sounds, team MVP and not just because everyone else sucked. Just about all of his punts (within reasonable distance) seemed to go inside the 20.
hunter smith (colts) is a free agent chris hanson (patriots) is a free agent that's about it, i'm sure we'll be drafting someone
Its not a huge problem and its still early on we can either address it with someone in FA in the next couple of weeks or draft a guy who cant punt in the later rounds. Feely was solid last season and he's re-upped for another season so our special teams unit will come together.
