 *Aside from contract issues at the moment (because if I am not mistaken he is a Jet, it's just they are working on an extension in his contract at the moment).* With that being said, are you guys happy with this trade? Or would you still rather of had Michael Turner? .... The fact that we basically traded a 2nd Rounder for Turner AND a 2nd Rounder makes the deal so much sweeter, even if some may think Turner is a better RB then Jones. We would have had to give up a 1st AND 3rd Round Draft Pick for Turner, and that's what shied me away from hoping that trade would go down. So, how do you all feel on the trade?
I'd easily take Turner over Jones but you just can't give up a 1st and 3rd round pick for him. He will become a FA next year anyway.
1st and 3rd for Turner who, while very talented, could very well be another in a line of great backup RBs who turn into pedestrian starters. Or, a proven starting RB who still has 3+ prime years left... all by moving from the top of the second to bottom of the second round? I'll take the latter.
When I look at Turner I see a guy who could turn out to be just like Derrick Blalock. We signed Balock after he had a great backup year behind Priest Holmes and he was terrible while here. Turner may be a better player but there is always the risk that he won't flourish in the feature running back role.
turner is an unrestricted free agent next year. jones + turner is a great backfield. not gonna happen though.
Jones > Turner. Jones has been a starter in this league before, Turner has not. I'm not in love with this trade, but I'm in love with the fact that we didn't waste our time with Michael Turner.
How can you not be in love with this trade? All we did was move down in the 2nd round 20 slots... I don't think there is any question who won in this trade.
My point was that they were coming from similar situations and that their was a posibility that it couldn't work out which is similar with any player you can sign. I didn't mention anything in my post about the way Turner runs or that he was going to fail. Simply making a comparison. Read before you post.
Ummmm he is only 28? Kinda in his prime.. Got him for a really good deal, and could be a everydown back for this team if needed too. Just look at his freaking arms?? Nuff said..
It was a big deal when Adalius Thomas signed with the Patriots but it doesnt matter with Thomas Jones since he's a Jet now.
