Agreed. Unless it is that we can't cut him while he's on IR or something? Do we have to wait until he's healthy enough to play, and then cut him, because he's on IR? That's the only reason I can think of as to why he's still on the team. Or, they can gain more by cutting him once his weapons charge gets adjudicated, by citing his conduct as a contract violation, so that they won't be on the hook for his medical bills while he's on IR. Most optimistic case is that they put him on the PUP list- see if CJ2 stays healthy, and then cut him in week 8 when he's eligible to return? It's got to be something like that- there's no real reason to keep him around.
Because there is not a single benefit to be had by not letting the court stuff play out and seeing what he can doon the field. If there was a good reason to cut him now it would have been done.
I think he can still earn a spot on this team. He had his ACL early enough in the year where he could reasonably be back for light duty early in TC. There's gonna be competition at RB whether he's around or not..might as well throw another dynamic type talent into the mix & let the cream rise. If he goes to jail or doesn't regain form enough to win a job..THEN you send him packing.
He won't make it out of training camp. And besides that Idzik's mantra of competition he'll get a chance to earn a spot.
It's good to have a lot of warm bodies during TC. Let's the coaches run a 1st team, 2nd team, scout team, so on. Maybe they'll use him as cannon fodder for the Line Backers to eat up. Anyway, Idzik paid him for a full season which he didn't get out of him, so at least throw him to the wolves for a few weeks, then cut him.
This dude is dead above the neck and below the knee, let some other team waste reps on him. He's never done a fucking thing in the NFL.
You never know what happens in training camp... basically a security blanket at this point I would pressume
I think like said above. I don't think you can cut an injured player,i and if you do you have to reach an injury settlement. I think once he clears medical. He will be released.
This is pretty much it. Why cut the kid before the legal issues play themselves out and we see where he is after the injury? I'm pretty sure we owe him the same $ whether we cut him or not so it wouldn't really make much sense to let him go.
