that the jets would have done exactly what the cardinals did last night? i didn't really want them to win, but as the game ended i found myself feeling bad for the die hard fans. i would have openly cried for the rest of the night if the jets had broken my heart like that.

No, the Cards were out there with the lead blitzing and playing to win the game. We would have rushed three and let the other team win with 5 seconds left.

for what its worth the defensive play calling for Arizona was way too safe on that final drive. After blitzing the whole game they scaled it back a little and we as jet fans know exactly where that got them...

Are you saying you do not want the Super Bowl chance so you won't be let down? I for one would be devastated if the Jets lost like that but would be happy to have at least seen my team in a Super Bowl. I wasn't around the last time.

You gotta be in it to win it you know!!

This is not athta rare of an opinioon here bieleive it or not. GSourJr was posting all season that even going to the Superbowl and losing should be considered a complete failure of a season.

    I don't get it either.

not at all, id gladly take my chances of being devastated by a loss like the one the cardinals suffered last night. i believe we have a different thread about not wanting to go to the super bowl out of fear of getting our feelings hurt.

all i was trying to say is i have seen the jets do exactly what the cardinals did enough to know how much it hurts. factor in that it was the super bowl and not the regular season and i found myself feeling bad for their fans. i guess i was just thinking about that and decided to type it.

actually i think it is rare. we have a thread about that right now. how many people are in there saying they agree totally with the idea of the thread? from my quick glance at it i saw a grand total of 0. i didn't look through the entire thing so i may have missed a loser or two but just because a thread was started talking about the idea doesn't mean its a popular opinion.

Actually i think the jets would of won, as you could see, those were AFC refs.

"Penalty on offense, calling a play, 20 yards, 4th down."

I know, that was almost blatant bias. I was sitting there in Q3 thinking out loud, "Jesus, if it weren't for the challenge rule, it would be 30-zip Steelers right now!"

I thought the play that they got burned for a long gain, they blitzed and got burned.

It's funny as I was watching the game coming down to the final Steelers drive I tried imagining if it was the Jets in either position. The reality is I had the Jets losing both ways! I could see their defense giving it up and I could could just as easily see something ridiculous happen on offense. I'm 40, the closest I've seen us come was in Denver and I was way more pissed afterwards than I was when Doug Brien missed those kicks. I know they got as far against the fins in '82, but that game was a disaster from the get go. The Denver game it was right there.

Having said that, I would certainly welcome the chance, even for one trip to the big dance, to finally see the Jets get there.

They did. It's funny, I've been hearing all day they went into the prevent on that drive, but my recollection is that they did not, and actually blitzed twice, getting burned on the long gain when the safety slipped. The D let Ben drive, but I don't think it was a result of conservative play calling.

Ditto. One of my biggest fears in life is that I'll never know the excitement of having my team playing in the Super Bowl. As it is, I've explained to my wife that if it ever happens, I don't care how much it costs me, I'm down at the game. But like I said, I fear it wont happen, which will suck.

I feel the same way. I knew that we would kick the crap out of the Falcons, we just matched up so well against them. And after seeing how sad the Falcons looked in the Super Bowl, I realized how close we were to going all the way, a fumble away from it. After we lost to the Steelers, about a month later in retrospect, I realized that we would just have been prolonging the inevitable if we had won that game.

I thought so. The safety was playing up and aggressive, and fell when Holmes cut to the outside.

That is the risk of playing "at 100 mph" an attacking D.
