Was just wondering, considering the state of (or lack of ) our defense, if B Cox is still a part of the CS. One of the best memories I have of him is when he flipped out on some no-name player on the sideline after a bad play, he seems like a natural "motivation through fear" type. The new Jet D could use some of that motivation!

Well, he's showing up for his job as D-line coach. Whether he's doing his job, which would be indicated by better play that we've seen by this line, is another story.

In one of his pressers, Mangini credited Cox with helping Kerry Rhodes perfect his sack and strip the ball technique. So Cox is doing something right.

So maybe if he focused on the DL instead of secondary, we'd see some better play from the guys in the trenches.

Yeah Rhodes is definitely tomahawking the right arm of the passer as he comes in. That was a patented Brian Cox maneuver on the blitz.

don't know about you guys but i am under the impression and have been told by a few guys in the know that for any defensive player - there isn't much technique to stripping the ball from a qb when you are approaching him - regardless if he is left or right handed. right hand from the blind side with a righty and the opposite for a left handed thrower.

the only thing i would tell these guys is too strip at chest to the shoulder area regardless if you see the ball. the majority of qbs hold the ball up in that area and you can get it out whether you contact the ball or not.

just takes some field awareness and common sense

I heard that Mangini put Cox on the sideline for the Indy game, because he wanted some "fire" there.

I didn't spot him while I was at the game, but it was hard to see.
