Granted it was the 2nd half of a preseason game, but the Jets 7th round pick looks like a very good aggressive player. Guy was making plays all over the field. Only credited with 3 tackles in the box score but running through the game again on DVR, he has at least twice that many and big hits. Feeling much better about the Safety position this year with the strong early play of Landry, Bell, and now Allen.

He looked impressive in run support. hits hard and seems like a sure tackler.
At least one tackle was for a loss too, so i like the aggresiveness.

Need to see more of him in coverage....

Coming out of college the read on him was that he's good in run support and a big tackler, But needs work in coverage.

I went to S Carolina, so I watched his every game. He played a "spur" position" which was more linebacker than safety, so as you say his run support is his forte. He had some great late game picks though as he drifted back into coverage when the opposing offenses were airing it out in 4th Q comeback attempts. He's not Eric Smith in coverage, but he is a SS that's a better in the box safety.

Very impressed with this kid as well. He definitely stands out. Excellent value for a 7th rounder (most projections had him no later than 4th round).

He can be a good SS in the future. The biggest difference between him and Eric Smith though is that Allen has some recovery speed and quickness to his game. We still need a FS but I like Allen.

I agree. adds depth to our safety position. I still can't believe we got him in the 7th.

Green would be such a liability in the current era of the NFL, where you get a flag for looking at a receiver the wrong way.

A healthy Landry and Allen will shore-up the SS position and send Eric Smith packing at the end of the season. If only we had a start-worthy FS...

If only Kerry Rhodes had a pair of testicles he'd still be on the team.

I never understood that. Why was Rhodes let go by the jets in the first place? He was a great player.

Rhodes was let go because he had no testes! Pretty simple and straightfoward. You gotta have balls to play on Rex's defense.

Yeah...Good solid player. I had my eye on him since Jets drafted him. Maybe a guy who can cover TE's on 3rd down from LB position. There was alot more talk about J. Bush as FS, but I'm still looking to see what all the chatter about him is. A.A. is the real deal & probally future Safety.
