- won a national title went undefeated - is 30-17 as an NFL starter (he's a WINNER) - 57% completions, 72 rating (ten percent better than Tim, and 3 points worse, although both are less "Christian") - he beat my other choice Matt Lionheart Leinart head to head - he runs in a pro offense 4 ypc! - was never given a chance to run his college offense! It wasn't fair (could have ran for 10 ypc and had a 70% completion rating if they just brought in Mack Brinn as a consultant!!!) - more experience than Lionheart or Tebow I think it would behoove the Jets to make a draft day trade for VINCE YOUNG! aka black Tebow with an arm!
I think that Vinnie (more apropos to Jersey than "VY") is also FA like Lionheart. I do think that Sparano and Young would be a good match on offense.
Not a chance in hell..what do the think the Jets are going to do have 5 QBs on the team and not one worth playing?
I was a fan of Young at UT but he hasn't panned out in the NFL. Mack Brown at UT did a lot to bring discipline, passing skills and focus to Brown. Young hasn't had that since he left UT, but clearly he still needs discipline and focus. Sanchez doesn't command the respect to bring that to Young. Young would be a distraction on the team and for Sanchez. Our offense would be worse off with him. That's one positive thing I can say about Tebow. He's clearly a disciplined person. You're not going to see him disrespecting the coaching staff or getting DUIs. It still remains to be seen whether his passing game can be improved.
I think that would be a "quint QB" system ... but who would be the fifth one? I count Sanchez, Tebow, Leinart, and Young ... unless you're counting Tebow twice because he comes with a congregation of stalkers ...
We'll just have Vince teach Tony Soprano "the spread" and then we'll use his knack for "just winning" and the unstoppable "spread" (it won several national championships!) and we can save money by cutting Sanchez and Tebow! Look we ALL AGREE that a QBs skills are based on 1) his ypc as a runner 2) his collegiate coaches remarks 3) whether or not "the spread" is used (if it is not, you can't fairly judge Vince or Tebow duh) 4) his teams WL record 5) faith (Vince is baptist) 6) jealous coaches! (Jeff Fisher, Ken Winzanpuff, and John Fox)
Drat, I forgot about him!!! Actually, I kinda liked McElroy and wished the Bills had taken him in the draft. He might have the most upside of all the QBs in the Jests potential "quint QB" offense ... while riding the pine, he might actually learn to read defenses, and his form as a passer is not that bad ...
