http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ny-manziel-nfl-comeback-qb-talking-to-coaches INDIANAPOLIS -- We're one step closer to a Johnny Manziel return to the National Football League. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday that the former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns "is in touch with multiple NFL head coaches" in an attempt to revive a career that crashed and burned in 2015 due to a storied rash of off-the-field troubles. "There have been conversations," Garafolo told NFL Network. "... People around him believe it's a very real possibility that he could return to the NFL, whether before or after his appearance in the Spring League." Garafolo added that "teams have been informed that Manziel will take zero dollars guaranteed, minimum salary, if need be." Showing no demands for money, Manziel is willing to prove it on the field, too, with the former Texas A&M star "open to signing a practice-squad contract, staying on a team's practice squad and proving that he is in the right mindset during this entire season," Garafolo noted. In recent days, Manziel has spoken honestly about the drama and substance-abuse issues that cratered his brief, chaotic run with the Browns. If you have a minute, it's worth listening to Manziel's upfront, wide-ranging interview with former teammates Joe Thomas and Andrew Hawkins of THE THOMAHAWK SHOW, where Johnny Football tells all on his various off-field misadventures during his stint with the Browns. In that same conversation, though, Manziel comes across as someone who has learned from his past -- while appearing serious about making football a part of his future. Time will tell. I'll play again for FREE. It's not about the money it's about getting back to doing what I miss and love.
If Manziel wants another shot in the NFL, he needs to play a couple seasons in Canada, prove he can stay out of trouble, and dominate the competition like Doug Flutie did. Otherwise it's just more cheap talk from a guy who's given enough of that.
Talk about an article that says nothing....he's talked to people, is open to this or that, people close are hoping, before or after spring league. Ok
I could see Jerry Jones bringing him in as a potential back-up to Dak, especially if Goodell isn't all-in on welcoming Manziel back into the league.
Someone will take a chance on him if he's truly given up the party life.He was too good in college for some team that needs a depth QB to ignore.
I dont think it really matters if* his head is on straight now anyway. The if is starred because I have my doubts. But last time I saw this dude on TV he was looking weak as fuck. He was borderline too small for the NFL anyway. And that was 3 years ago when he was in best physical condition not weak and physically checked out like he is now. He's got no shot
He really does need to come up here at least for a season. Prove he can still play and stay out of trouble. I hope for his sake he has in fact cleaned himself up but if i am an NFL team i want something more concrete then his word.
I have nothing particularly against the guy, but there are dozens and dozens of great college quarterbacks who are not NFL caliber, and this guy actually got the chance to demonstrate that he's one of them. I can't imagine why any NFL team would want to give him another shot. Wanting to play for free on an NFL practice squad rather than in the CFL actually makes me doubt him more, not less, since being on a practice squad proves absolutely nothing.
He would come for almost free with huge upside. I would bring him to camp and see if he can win the QB3 job.
