Since we lost 2 of 3 to the Orioles, Ecko's streak is over. Chris Britton has been recalled for the bullpen.
Why was Britton recalled? Are his numbers good? Isn't Bruney close yet? This is going to be a tough series. Oi, I think I'll stop by Rite Aid and grab some Rolaids. Maybe Pepsid.
Bruney's control has been shaky so far. If Britton actually gets some work this time around, he could be decent.
I'm really happy the Pirates were dumb enough to swap their deal and let us keep Kontos: 8.0 IP 1 H 0 R 0 ER 1 BB 13 K's | 3-7 GB/FB ratio. Dominance... I hope he's a Yankee at 4:01.
I think you took the emphasis on the wrong word. It should read "Why was Britton recalled?" Obviously we had a pen opening (which you were late to report to the trade deadline thread, it already had its own :wink but Britton wouldn't have been who I thought would come up first, Bruney would have been. However, as 10P's post explains, Bruney isn't ready yet. Nice outing by Kontos. We dodged a bullet there. How long do they plan on waiting though? At some point, Washburn is going to be rendered a non-factor for this season, which is all we really need him for. Obviously we can take an extra week or so, but every 5 days we lose another start from him that Ponson is allowed to make.
YANKEES (59-48) Damon DH Jeter SS Abreu RF A. Rodriguez 3B Giambi 1B Cano 2B Nady LF P. Rodriguez C Cabrera CF Pettitte LHP Pudge will wear #12.
I wasn't high on the trade, but looking at the lineup now, it's kind of hard to not smile. If only we had a center fielder that could hit. Then again, with an 8-man deep lineup, maybe Melky will start to see more choice pitches and do something.
Heyman: 4:04 p.m: The Yankees talked about trading infielder Alberto Gonzalez to the Nationals for pitcher Jhonny Nunez, SI.com has learned. No word if the deal was done.
The deal happened. Nunez is just an organizational arm. They need to fill a hole in the Trenton rotation. Here's his stats: http://thebaseballcube.com/players/N/Jhonny-Nunez.shtml
I asked in another thread but forget which one so I will ask it here too. Why is Kennedy still in Scranton and Ponson and Rasner pitching here? Have they determined he has no career here? He is certainly pitching better there than either of those guys are here.
Kennedy will be back if Ponson or Rasner have another shitty start and if Kennedy can put another good one together. His last one actually wasn't so hot... he was a little wild. I think Cash and Joe were serious about Kennedy and Hughes needing to earn their way back.
