    He's Gone

    Nobody can find him

Yesterday he refused to lift because he hasn't been working out, basically because he wasn't in shape, that was his excuse .. now today he still hasn't shown up and at this point no-one knows where he is .. seems like he just split :eek:hmy:

I was just reading that. And Crabtree's under 6'2" and has a stress fracture in his foot. It's amazing how fortunes can change.

He just cost himself a ton of cash - Eugene Monroe and Jason Smith are now considered the top tackle prospects.

A lot of GMs and coaches don't see Smith as a left tackle anyway - he's being looked at as right tackle.

Without a doubt. If you are not going to attend the combine, then do not attend. Going to indy, pulling out of workouts and not showing up for a day puts up huge red flags for GM's who have to shell out big guarenteed contracts to these guys. His atcions have Monroe and Smith licking thier chops all the way to the bank.

So he will definitely fall. Will he get past the Chargers at 16?

If he does, I wouldn't be upset if the Jets drafted him. I know it wouldn't be the flashiest pick, but Smith has a ton of upside. He'd be a huge boost on the right side of our line.

...maybe Woody could move back to the empty slot at guard?

    EXACTLY RIGHT

If we cut Moore as we reportedly will, and Andre Smith slides to 17 (not impossible following this debacle), I would like to see the Jets draft him for the right side of the O-line, either RT or RG, if its RT then we can easily slide Woody over to RG

I would still say its a long shot, PA, assuming he bounces back with a decent pro day (and I'm sure his agent will shoot him if he doesn't), but this stunt at the combines at least puts a fall to 17 in the realm of possibility .. now its not something you can entirely discount, and if you're the Jets you at least have to consider what you might do if that happens

If he was there at #17 and the front office felt he was too risky to draft, I'm sure we would have some nice trade down offers.

But OTs are a hot commodity on draft day, so I wouldn't expect him to fall too far.

As much as Oakland likes Mario Henderson, it will be hard for them to pass on Smith.

If he gets by the Raiders and the Jags, the Redskins are the only team that could really use an offensive tackle.

Good Call on Washington, E .. you also have to consider their division where they have to deal with the Giants who send exceptional pass rushers at you in waves, then you have to deal with DeMarcus Ware and Jim Johnson's blitz packages in Philly .. you just can't survive in that division if you are not strong on the O-line, but especially at the tackle positions, so I could see them taking the risk on Andre Smith

I think Jamie Dukes' exact response to Smith admitting that he wasn't in shape was, "I hope he enjoyed saying that because it just cost him $10million."

I think Smith is now seen as a RT (or even a G) by the majority of GM. His weight issues and lack of committment to getting in shape are going to cause him to drop tremendously. I'd guess he'll land somewhere in the second half of the first round. And the kid could have been considered for the #1 pick if he had been in excellent shape ! What a fall . . .

You guys are talking about him dropping to the 17th pick like it is a question. If this guy doesn't shape up & fast he will drop out of the first day entirely.

Good call. He probably wouldn't get past the Jags. Nice to dream though.

He could recover with a good personal workout. But in the worse case scenario, where he just stays fat and stupid, you're right. It's second round or even third !

Not only is Smith really dumb but so are the guys who are advising him.
