I guess its only right to entertain the recent news of the most dead part of the football year.
Andre wanted out of Houston as we all known for a while now and is looking to make his way out before the season starts. If your Idzik do you make the move?

IMO I dont thnk we even attempt to pursue Andre. However if we were to do it i would definitely say this team would be a very serious contender out of the AFC. If he was a free agent it would be a different story but trading and paying big money i cant get jiggy with that and i know for damn sure Idzik wont. Dont tell Chris Johnson that though.

I would do it if we had a proven QB. But we don't.

Depends on the price as usual. He'll be a Patsy though, it makes a lot of sense for them to pursue.

Ian Rapoport just tweeted "On Andre Johnson: Source tells me he would restructure his contract to help a potential new team get under the salary cap. Not a pay cut though"

Obligatory Patriots will get him post. Nice.

If we were a veteran WR away from contending then sure, but at the moment, no. I'd rather see what some of the younger guys can do.

love the player even at his age ... he's still very productive and would really help whoever our qb is. his contract is expensive but it's easy to cut him after 2 years with no dead money. if the price was right i'd be down but my guess is the Texans are going to want more than he's worth all things considered.

Not Jets related. We already had a thread about Johnson earlier in the off season. It's not even an option at this point. Yeah it would be awesome, but it's a pipe dream. I'd rather let the young guys develop. Besides, the Jets aren't bringing in another dude that holds out.

Haha. any receiver can watch throws go over his head so I'll pass on the one that costs ten mil.

If I remember correctly the jets are far more better at giving AWAY their star WRs. Its how the book was written and I don't think they ever had it updated.

we have the cap for it, but trading a few picks for him doesn't fit Idzik's style, especially not after already signing Decker to a long term deal. I also don't think we're a great fit for him, we're in the latter stages of rebuild mode with about as much chance at reaching the next level as taking a tumble. The jets are hardly championship contenders despite our best hopes, he'll look elsewhere.

I almost hope the pats try to take him, let them go into the future with a bigger contract on the books and a few less draft picks to cope. he's not that big an upgrade that i'll suddenly fear NE more because of him being there, its Brady they're passing game was already gonna be good, Johnson or no.

People say no because "he should go to a contender"

But what they fail to mention is with him we would be instant division favorites. Or atleast even with the Pats.

We are better than a "rebuilding" team. We are a good season from Geno (Or Vick) away from being a true threat to any team we face. Andre would defintely help Geno reach that, and also put us over the top as an offense.

He is owed about $33M over the next 3 years, that means if he dropped down to $5M this year what ever team traded for him would owe him $14M a year for 2015 and 2016. He'll be 33 tomorrow so that would be $14M to a 34/35 year old receiver. Oh and give up pick/s to have the pleasure of paying him that much.

If we had him for just a one season deal, I'd say absolutely. But not for three years.

No. Just too much money would be tied up in receivers when we have other guys who need to be paid. I don't think he is worth the money or draft picks
