who would have thought this game would turn into a shootout? i sure as hell didn't, but i do have to say that was one fun game to watch. it looks like the wildcat is here to stay for miami. they did a great job of keeping our defense off balance. obviously most of us underestimated how effective the wildcat could be for fins, not to mention chad henne.

i haven't bothered to look at the forum much, because i'm sure it is mostly unreadable with irrational posts about how bad the loss was last night. i just don't see it as a bad loss right now. i am very concerned about our defense getting pushed around by the fins so badly, but that is what their offense was meant to do and they executed far better last night. i can't help but be confident that this defense will bounce back in a big way after being embarrassed last night.

we couldn't stop them, but they couldn't really stop us either. the first half was a little rough, but some gutsy special teams play kept a few of our drives alive. leon was running like a wild man, and jones has magically learned how to fight forward when he gets hit. (thanks shonne) sanchez had a very nice bounce back game after last week. he did make a few throws that had me scratching my head, but overall a huge improvement for the rookie.

what can i say about braylon edwards? this guy made his presence felt early and it was obvious what type of difference he is going to make for this team. how nice is to need a big play and to have a guy who can just go get the ball. he bailed sanchez out on a few third downs. his downfield plays were an element this offense has been missing.

while last night was a bitter loss i find myself very calm this morning. i think we may have just witnessed the first of many classics between henne and sanchez. the fins aren't as bad as 0-3 suggested and the jets are not as good as 3-0 suggested. both teams looked playoff caliber last night. i think we have a three horse race in the division this year. i'll be looking for a dog fight all year. once again great game played on both sides, the fins made a few more plays and protected their home field. we will have to return the favor in a few weeks.

The Jets D did not look playoff calibre last night. The second half offense did. Keep in mind how much those PI calls and the illegal contact call helped the O though. We don't score without those calls.

how many times have calls like that gone against the jets when they would have made a stop? those calls are part of the game on both sides.

the defense did not look playoff caliber last night at all. as i said i am confident they will bounce back. they play traditional offenses the next 2 weeks and they have shown domination against even the best the league can offer. one week is not enough for me to freak about the defense. especially with 2 key guys out, who i think could have made a huge impact on the game.

What if the Jets lose to the Raiders?

Realistically the Jets should go 4-0 in their next 4 games

I can't bring myself to show an "ounce" of confidence at this point.....we SHOULD'VE won last night's game too.

Every game from here on out....needs to be taken seriously.

if we lose to the raiders we are total and complete idiots for how much we overrated this team. i just expect this defense to go back to the form we saw the first 4 weeks. like i said miami played a great game offensively they kept the defense way off balance and really took it to the jets. everyone here feels like we were totally dominated by the fins, and for the most part we were, yet we were in a position to win for the entire game. i just don't see this defense allowing that type of performance again, especially not to the bills or raiders.

Reality they ran the ball down our throats and without a couple of really dangerous fake punts that worked and a phantom PI call this game is an outright blowout.

the bottom line for me is we got dominated and were still in a position to win the game. now the domination is obviously concerning, but i am going on the assumption that the defense of the first four weeks is the norm for this team and last night was just a really bad game against a team the was executing perfectly.

i am just finding it hard to believe so many people are ready to throw in the towel when our defense played an awful game but our offense was able to keep us in it. i think buffalo is just what the doctor ordered for most of the people here. the mood swings of this place are almost unbearable.

We can't freak, you're right. But this is not the first game where the D has done a porr job getting pressure or stopping the run. Also, I don't think that elite defenses should struggle this much just because a couple guys are out.

Polamalu's absense seems to be killing the Steelers, but we'll see how good they actually are one he is back.

Our defense is supposed to get pressure, but we have 4 sacks and 4 picks in 5 games. The pressure defense should be creating down and distances that make first down conversions difficult and help negate Lowery's vulnerability by getting picks and sacks on passing downs. That has not happened, so after 5 games even though the D is good, it's not dominant, and I don't think it's going to carry the team the way we thought it would.

our offense hasn't exactly put the defense in a position to be able to force the turnovers and bad plays we are expecting. everything you mentioned is concerning, but i wanna wait until next week and see what happens. i wouldn't be surprised to start seeing the sacks and turnovers come in bunches the next two weeks. if they cannot force some bad plays from that awful bills team and the even worse raiders i will start to seriously worry about the defense.

until last night i had been quite happy with the defense. they hadn't gotten the sacks, but the pressure was there and it had thrown off the likes of tom brady and drew brees. last night sucks, but miami played a flawless offensive game that had the defense way back on it's heels. i doubt we see the defense look like that again the rest of the season.

I don't think our O did keep us in it. Two trick plays by special teams and a phantom PI call was the only thing that kept this game from being an outright blowout.

When we destroy the Bills and Raiders everyone is going to be talking Super Bowl again. I'm with you, ukk. We'll bounce back from this. If we don't Rex Ryan won't be coaching us for very long.

Like you said, Miami played flawlessly. We played porously on defense. Shit happens. We'll be fine.

And a defense that continuously fell for the Wildcat kept the Dolphins in the game. I mean, what happens in the game, happens in the game. That's what adds up to wins and losses.

Good teams take advantage of situations. Twice on special teams the Jets did that.

We didn't fall for the wildcat. The Dolphins best players are Ronnie Brown and Rickie Williams. By taking out the QB they get another blocker on the field so both Brown and Williams can be on the field together. We loaded the box they put a blocker on our tackler and let their two best players make plays.

i know its much harder to swallow because it is the dolphins, but this was not one of the jets stronger performances, while a lot of that credit does go the fins i will be looking for a shiny new defensive scheme for the wildcat in three weeks.

this defense has been talking a big game since august and yesterday they got shut the fuck up. i am fully expecting them to be pissed off and embarrassed. they should be looking to show everyone just how big a fluke last night was for them. i hope they can do it.

no matter how you want define it the jets got beat by a formation that has been stopped before. the jets missed tons of tackles and couldn't get off blocks. that is not how this defense plays and if they are as good as they think they are they will bounce back from this with a vengeance.

Come on winston. When the RBs are continuously getting penetration to the second level, and worse yet, into the secondary, that's not a matter of just blocking. The D played confused and unable to adjust all night.

Miami played great, but we didn't at the same time. A lot like how we won the Titans game last year.

The D was not confussed the D was dominated at the LOS and Ronnie Brown is a beast inside and Ricky still has the speed to make the edge. They beat the shit out of our safties and corners, physically punished them and they pounded our middle in 84 degree heat with 75 plus percent humidity. We weren't fooled we were physically manhandled.

This is what I have been saying all along, The JETS OFFENSE DOES NOT SUSTAIN LONG DRIVES, this is going to kill the defense in the long run, they are on the field for so much of the game they will eventually wear down in games and over the course of the year.
