Am I the only one who wants McElroy to be given a shot?

He's looked pretty decent in the very few touches he's gotten.

Sanchez obviously isn't working out (I have been the biggest Sanchez supporter there is, but I have officially given up on him), and Tebow is a better runningback than quarterback.

I think it's time to bench Greene and Sanchez and replace them with Tebow and McElroy, respectively. I'm not even joking.

If it doesn't work out, oh well, at least we can trade up for Geno Smith, because I never want Sanchez or Tebow to play a snap at QB for us again.

There are others who want McE to get a shot, but most people here think those people are crazy.

What's crazy is that we keep playing the same players and getting the same results. I'm all for shaking things up a bit. I like the idea. It certainly can't hurt at this point. It's clear we are going to struggle all season and probably not make the playoffs with this squad.

If Mark does down to injury, who does Sparano send in?

I wouldn't get too excited about Geno Smith either. Who has he played with a real defense besides Texas? He threw for 70 points against a pop Warner Defense who let 60+ points go in their last bowl game.

I think McElroy will get his shot because Tebow probably won't be on the roster next year even if he finishes out the season as a starter. Not because I think Tebow can't play but because the coaching is not a good fit for him growth wise. I could be wrong though.

He WOULD send in Tebow, but he SHOULD send in McElroy...even if Sanchez doesn't get hurt.

Just wish we didn't give Sanchez a contract extension :eek:hmy:

When is the earliest we can cut him without too much of a cap penalty?

How much of Mark's implosion is due to Tebow praying his ass off?

I'm curious to know what exactly McElroy has done in the NFL to warrant him going in over Tebow? I'm not trying to be an ass but this is a straight faced question. How do we know Tebow hasn't improved his passing? If Tebow replaced Sanchez and did a great job at passing and moving the ball with his legs, would he be accepted then? Again, these are straight questions not questions to annoy or piss anybody off.

Look for all the people who wanted to anoint Brett Ratliff the next coming of Brett Favre, and you will find the McElroy supporters.

Again, you have to give Sanchez an opportunity to right the ship here. He just went through the gauntlet of 3 top 5 defenses in the last 4 games with a skeleton crew at WR/TE while implementing a new offensive system. You have to see if he can improve against less suffocating defenses with starters returning to the lineup. Pulling him now doesn't make sense unless the plan all along was to move to another QB at this point.

If he still plays like a dickhead, by all means, throw someone else in. Just know that there are more problems with this offense than the QB and McElroy & Tebow have glaring weaknesses of their own. I strongly question whether McElroy has the arm strength to play in the NFL.

Because Tebow is not a QB, he is a runningback. I want him to start at runningback. Plus, Tebow has proven that he cannot throw (might have changed, but who knows), McElroy hasn't even been given a chance.

He may suck as well, but we'll never know until w throw him into a game.

It's not just the last 4 games, it's a culmination of 4 seasons of being one of the worst starting QBs in the NFL.

Sanchez has played well in big spots for this team. He's shown us flashes of very good play - but has been very inconsistent. He hasn't played well since the Bills game this season but he's been in a really tough spot the last 4 games. IMO he's earned the right to play beyond that part of the schedule all things considered.

If he doesn't turn shit around very soon - go ahead and try the pop gun. I think it's highly unlikely that McElroy is ever a starter in this league unless he's able to significantly increase his arm strength. I also think you're going to see the offense looking much better this week. I expect it to look much better.

Sanchez can't do it, they won't let Tebow do it, then why not give McElroy a shot. He can't be worse than what we have going now and could be the Jets QB of the future.

Tebow is not a runningback. He's good running in space, but he lacks the burst to be a true running back, and he catches passes with his helmet. Let's put this pipe dream to rest.

We really don't know who is worth a damn. Every evaluation of offensive talent is filtered through Mark Sanchez. Maybe changing the filter will give us a better evaluation of the other talent. If Tebow or McElroy are worse, we can put Mark back in.

Even with all our weapons on the field last year, Mark struggled badly in several games.

I'm not a Sanchez supporter. But, explain "all our weapons"?

    Holmes, Burress, Keller..Not too scary.

Would you consider a pass that hits a receiver in the helmet a good pass?
Does Green have a this burst you speak of?

If the answer to either is no, then where is the issue with Tebow? I understand you may not like him, but that doesn't mean he has no value to this team as either.

The Jets don't have any plan whatsoever. So there's no downside to starting someone else but Sanchez.

You can't critique Tebow or McElroy as the Jets starting QB as they have never been given the opportunity. There's no basis for criticism until either of them start a game. I'll tell you one thing. It can't get any worse than Sanchez who is statistically and visually one of the bottom 5 Qb's in the NFL.
