https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor.../alvin-kamara-contract-extension/75800356007/ It’s amazing how the franchises leadership still hasn’t gotten over that 2018 loss to the Rams and have been holding onto all of these aging superstars without any sort of rebuild strategy. They’re 2-5 with a banged up QB, old roster, bad head coach and projected to be $82 million over the cap next year. Trading Kamara at the deadline would’ve absolutely been the right move. They’ve been figuring out a way around their cap issues for years. I just don’t get it.
I don't even know how they address it going into next year to get under. I took a quick glance at some restructures but none of it seems worth
Yup, it doesn’t appear to make much sense. If I understand it correctly, the far right number is the only number they can save on the cap? https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/new-orleans-saints So even if they cut everyone with a cap savings number, they don’t come close to getting under. They’re going to have to do a lot of massive restructuring and they’re going to be paying Lattimore, Ramczyk, Carr, Demario Davis, etc. big money spread across a lot of years.
